The game is good, but its realese is certainly a Seldon Crisis. PsychoHistory tells me that all will be okay, but only if egosoft doesn't change direction.
I'm very happy with X Rebirth, some features like the structure of the universe must be a standar in every videogames with a space universe: I can play no more any games divided in sectors like X3 after a few days with Rebirth.
Don't be afraid of the reaction of the people: the crowd is good only to kill King and not to create a better kingdom.
Take care of yourself.
The loudest people are always the ones that fell their opinion is "superior" to everyone elses. And most of the time they dont see the whole. They just see the things they dont like.
While there are things that could be handled better (i for one would love to see prices for inventory items without docking and looking for the npcs

The only difference is, that X-R startet out a bit weaker due to the bugs. That is all.

@ Egosoft
Thank you for this update and all the work done by the egosoft team.
I'm new to X series, and I have only played in the campaign mode. The space environments, graphical effects and musics are good.
I know that there is bugs, and that a lot of differents things can be improved but I'm convinced that a lot of issues will be fixed in updates and also that both your team and the community can help to improve or add optional or missing features / mods.
Once again, thanks for your work.

At the Steam Forums, piep is all over the place running screen.
Wouldn't surprise me to find it's other developers as well. Noone takes offense at coding being criticized as badly as those who coded it. And "piep" sure takes a lot of offense at people who criticize the code.

I'm naturally unfriendly sometimes. Don't take what I say too badly.

You must be too naive to realize that paying people to manipulate forums is a common practice nowadays. Or you are too clever...Dr2i wrote:You guys seriously have brain issues. Someone who supports such an unfinished game with full effort looks very suspicious... It's easy to tell by tracing his recent posts.
Edit: After reading more of his posts, this "someone" looks even more suspicious than PXXX. It looks like he is actually a coder.

Retraction
I was wrong when I said this GAME was c**p. It isn't actually a game.
I've tried to play for a few more hours now, discovered a few more things. None of the things I've discovered actually work. All the good things from the X games has been removed, and what's left is just a graphical shell, waiting for the game to actually be written.
And it's ABSOLUTE garbage, and a rip off (In my opinion
).
Haven't bought it yet?.........Don't.

The things that missing from the game...
Mouse control to change weapons on screen (hud) and what not
True Encyklopedia which lead us to the already discovered things.
Map target selection.
On screen contact list.
Look around WITHOUT changing corse.
Autopilot.
Buying ships and factories from distance.
Multitasking (I explore, they trade, you protect....)
Cruise speed to love exploring uncharted areas even if they empty.
I love the space structure and the highways
M monthly wages at 300€ and i bought a 1500€ PC "just" to play this game within 2years
At the end of the day you made me cry...:/

And if that person is 'a coder', for the game (or otherwise!), would it make that person's appreciation of a game any less valid?Lone Jedi wrote:Someone who supports such an unfinished game with full effort looks very suspicious... You will find my forum name buried in some of the XML change log histories for X3AP. That doesn't mean I loved X3AP 100%. In fact, the reason I *got* involved with the X3AP community project was *because* I was disattisfied with certain elements if it. And then I started headbutting into the issues with the X3 / X1 game engine

XR has flaws. Some of them I actually find endearing, like tradition Egosoft dialouge: "Prepare a Disco!". Others want me to push my forehead through my desk to the floor: I can't configure my Logitech Gamepad the way I used to play. Trying to tweak some of my Nvidia panel's settings to 'off' as suggested in user posts in the Tech Support area resulted in a *drop* of FPS from 25 to 15 in most areas of the game.
I still believe that, despite all its issues, XR will become a much better game with continued support.

The best you can hope for is it'll be better than Darkstar One, because that's what this game reminds me so much of.eldyranx3 wrote:And if that person is 'a coder', for the game (or otherwise!), would it make that person's appreciation of a game any less valid?Lone Jedi wrote:Someone who supports such an unfinished game with full effort looks very suspicious... No thanks, I'll wait for a real X game. If we get one....

It's less valid if someone tells us some shXt is not shXt but instead a gem and it's our gamers' fault not to find out. It's also annoying if those someone who hide their identities twist the facts to try to defend the developer/publisher and silence the negative comments.eldyranx3 wrote:And if that person is 'a coder', for the game (or otherwise!), would it make that person's appreciation of a game any less valid?Lone Jedi wrote:Someone who supports such an unfinished game with full effort looks very suspicious... Is it valid telling us this game is a huge success?
P.S. Don't get me wrong, I respect the community coders/modders such as yourself much. It's those who cheated the players' money but delivered shXt make me sick.

So glad I didn't buy this. I haven't logged in since 2009 and I came just to say that I played this at a mates who I got into X3 and it was... Wow.
I feel for you egosoft. I've been lurking looking at the modding methods and it appears that this is built off an improvement of the X3 engine. I hope you choose to bring back the AI and independent computer control methods from X3. And the gravidar. And a legible map system.
And for someone who says this game isn't supposed to be X4, remember that the first line on your X:Rebirth page on Egosoft:
The space simulation X Rebirth heralds more than just an additional chapter within the X series, it is a fresh beginning bringing with it a number of gameplay innovations without compromising its successful origins.
I'm more disappointed than angry. I literally feel like I heard an old friend I knew in school or something died. Thanks for the fun times and the reward from that competition I did so long ago and I hope I can return next year and see a game taht lives up to some promise. Sadly from the looks of things you were already cash strapped so maybe that won't be the case.
I'm sorry that this had to happen to you but it seems you lost your way early on on this path.[/b]

Started a new game last night.
Still got hung up on energy cell mission. I decided since the game was patched, with this bug in the patch notes I would try to play the game naturally and not try to tip-toe or workaround any potential bugs with this mission.
First of all, I know I did the trade correctly, because it was confirmed by my trade-ship captain and also showed up in the "planned actions".
I did a mini-mission as suggested by the co-pilot, while we wait for the sale to complete.
1. The optional side-mission took us out of the sector (taxi) and upon arrival to the other sector, it sounded like my squad/trade-ship wanted to follow.
2. So I get back, trade is still pending, my ship is nowhere in sight.
3. Do combat mission in the same sector, still no trade ship.
4. 30 minutes later... you get the idea.
There's probably a workaround but I don't want to have to think about working around game-breaking glitches. I want immersion; I don't want to have to constantly trouble-shoot as I "play" as it's too much like work.
Anyway, keep up the good work. Please fix the game.

And.. I agree
UnclePaulie wrote:Are you serious " huge success " I am playing on a new PC and there is very little wrong in the way of bugs, the problem is the game itself . Did you not think that the high number of people playing is just because they, myself included are trying to get something for their money .
I hate the game so far and I am a huge fan of X series, I am one of the " 10,000 active users on Steam " I wish I never bought the game, I have forced myself to play it in the fading hope I might find something I do like .
Here is some stuff I hate about your big success story
1- The stations are total copy and paste garbage when you land .
2- The NPC's are horrible to interact with .
3- The trade ships just follow you and never go to the commanded area, my trade ship has 6 destinations on it and will not go to any .
4- I was trying drop cargo, you cant .
5- No external view of ship .
6- No nearest target, I would let you off with that since it was on your list but there is no reason why the game should not have launched with the feature .
7- My character must have a neck brace on because he cant move his head .
8- Having to manually go to trade locations so you can tell your ship to go there ( genius )
9- The target reticule is massive and obstructs view of enemy ships .
10- The text in many areas of the game is tiny and unreadable .
11- Pressing multiple number comands to do simple stuff .
12- The cockpit is useless, it should have had interactions on it for easy access to menus etc by clicking mouse on them .
13- The Map is terrible and is of no use whatsoever .
14- The main character and the chicks voice acting is horrible .
15- No weapons menu .
16- No cargo on your own ship .
17- Horrid tutorial that explains nothing, well nothing that makes sense in game on first play .
18- Not being able to change ship .
19- The much hyped drones suck, I will have the capital ships back any day of the week .
20- Trading full stop .
21- I doubt I will ever manage to " Build trade fight think " in this dissaster of a game .
22- The fact it is clearly made for next gen console, or at least last gen and you failed and repackaged it for us .
23- Zero respect for the people who pay your wages, yes us the hardcore X fans .
24- 20+ hours in and not a single thing interesting to do outside the campaigne .
25- No idea whats even happening in the campaign .
26- STUPID way to start the game .
27- Severed many interesting races from previous games .
28- I waited for this for years and want to delete it the same weekend I bought it .
29- The lanes suck .
30- No seta or jumpdrive .
31- No radar
32- I target ships in combat and the game untargets it randomly .
33- No way to commands at all, follow me really that's it ?
34- The lanes take too long to travel and hitching a ride on them is rubbish, who wants an extremely close view of the back of a ship ?
35- The chat option with NPC's .......... who thought that up, it is a joke .
36- I find a place that sells something good, am I supposed to remember all the items by memory ???
37- The sound crackles all the time .
38- The whole setting feels totally empty, not to look at but 95% of stuff in view is just a empty shell that offers nothing to gameplay .
39- The vents are in the exact same location of every area .
40- The vents offer nothing to add to the game .
41- No space suit or eject .
42- All the weapons I have used so far are lame .
43- The PMC can attack you anywhere and are unpunished, unlike the player .
44- The game sucks .
45- The game is very boring and tedious .
46- I have engaged even large ships and have never even came close to getting killed .
47- The enemy ships fly at very slow speeds while hugging stations .
48- The AI is poor and offers no challenge .
49- Have I already stated I have no idea whats going on .
50- The stupid videos that are forced on you started while I was in combat and the enemy ship almost killed me .
I could go on and on, I fear I will never get even half of the things I want added to this game but if I do not get some of it I will never buy anything from you again, I have purchased ALL of the previous titles and spent a lot of money supporting you and this is how you thank me and all the other core gamers . I am £40 out of pocket and to be honest I could not care one bit about the cash, I am devastated the game I waited so long for has been butchered in this way .
I will be willing to bet the 10,000 active users is nowhere near as high in a weeks time .![]()

I have to agree with UnclePaulie, I had been looking forward to this game for some time, loved all the hype and videos showing how great it was and yet, as above, I have bought a game thats just well, not a game. As stated, its empty, all the stations are the same, as are the traders, the npc's are too easy to kill, trading is impossibile, what use are capital ships that follow you around even when not in squad and do nothing when in a fight? I cant even work out how to empty my cargo!
I want this game better, I know it can be better. I have spent 47 hours so far some of it just sitting there wondering what I should do, wondering why when i dock at Shady Vault cap yard i suddenly walk through doors and my seat no longer rotates to greet me or displays cease to function till I save and then go see my "crew" really is that what they are.. useless. I can add another 50 items to the list above.. but I think my tiny rant as first time poster is enough.. Dev's please take note of the above. I dont know who you tested this game on for alpha or beta (or are we it?) but they cannot have been gamers.. or X fans..

Just wanted to mention that after the last bout of fixes that i started to experience lag that i had not before.
All I did to fix this was switch which monitor the game chose to use. Not sure why that would fix it but under settings where you can choose which graphic card to use (I'm at work now not sure how its worded exactly) it just has my card listed twice with #1 and #2 beside it. Choosing #2 swapped my game viewing monitor from the left to the right, and this also fixed my FPS.
Just thought it could prove useful for others to try if they have a dual set up like me.
Also, ignore the haters Bernd, I believe once you guys fix this game up it will be great. And I realize its possible/probable that you just could not postpone release of the game any further without some consequence that was not acceptable.
If the only way we can receive the next great Egosoft game is to participate in the beta ourselves even after buying the game, then its a small price to pay, especially since we KNOW that Egosoft will deliver tons of future updates and add-ons free of charge.
If your pissed about the game fine, stop playing for a month and allow us to help Egosoft fix it.
