Do the plots was one of them. Someone else (forget who sorry) set me one to capture one example of each Xenon craft, so that's on the agenda too. If you've any other ideas feel free to chuck em in.Troubleshooter11 wrote:EDIT: owh btw, i might have missed it but does N-S (Leo) have a set 'endgame' goal? I think it was completing all the plot missions etc?
To be honest I've rarely ever had problem with gate-collisions apart from smaller ships hitting me when I was in a big one. I think the trick to avoiding being rammed by a big ship is to let them go thru the gate first so they don't jump in on top of you and when entering gates enter close to the edge rather than the centre.Gothsheep wrote:However, I've always hesitated on calling N-S about this, since, honestly, if he does it like that, I don't want him to feel compelled to stop, which drawing attention to it might do.

.. and foot down, jink left.. yipe!, that one must have blistered the paint some.. and I'm out of range.. phew!
Ok, so right now I'm wishing I did have a Boost Extension, but fortunately even a base-speed Kestrel has a good acceleration on it..

.. Because you don't really want to be loitering around in front of one of those for too long. My first Khaak experience and not a pleasant one. It does explain why my map is slightly sparse tho, half the stations in the sector have been destroyed.
Is there just the one tho or are there more lurking about? Khaak destroyers don't tend to wander around alone to my knowledge so chances are good there's more. Keeping a good safe distance and my eyes glued to the gravidar I head into the sector some more on a slightly looping course around the south of the sector. Ah, yes..

.. I think this place is somewhat doomed.
This does however throw a bit of spanner in the works for me. My plan was to locte Atreus HQ and find out if the rumours of them selling jumpdrives was true. If it is, try and get hold of one. Unfortunately for me my rep with the Goners is insufficient for me to be licenced to use jumpdrives on small craft, only on TM class and above. If this was a Teladi station I wouldn't have the problem as a few claws suitably greased with credits and they'ld install it for me anyway, no questions asked. The Boron however do like to do things by the book.
This wasn't going to be a problem as I intended to purchase a Pelican from the Grand Exchange shipyard and bring it down here, equip it and jump back to PTNI. I think Atreus HQ is somewhere south of Sanctity of Corruption tho and that would mean attempting to sneak the Pelican past a full-scale Khaak armada.. I'm not fancying my chances. Looks like I'm going to have to put that plan on hold for the time being then. I'll come back in a while, hopefully by then the Teladi will have done something about taking their sector back.. assuming there's anything left of it.
Foot down and back to PTNI then. It's a fairly quick trip flat out, ignoring all distractions, apart from one..

.. This one I choose not to ignore. I've use for a fast TP to do all the VIP taxi runs and Military Personnel transport missions that to date I've been forced to ignore because the client is too posh to squeeze into my Kestrel. Ok, fair enough I may be running cattle-class here.. but it's a fast cow!

Military Transports can be done in ANY M cargo class with life support and enough free cargo to take them, no need for a TP here. It's "Military" Personnel, they are used to be handled that way. =)

Not something you want to drop out of warp to.
Good thing you're fast!
Mak, of course, would have told you to board one of those Khaaky bastards.

Could always do what I did and lure the Kha'ak up and down the space lanes a bit, good loot and no rep loss... anyone who complains gets a Ky enema.
I made about 5 mil from this which really got my X career started this time. was very intensive though as you have to keep your whit's about you and keep the Kha'ak away from anything really big that eventually turns up.

I think the problem with military personnel is one of space, not posh. Military transport missions (from what I've done) tend to take up a bit of room.silenced wrote:Military Transports can be done in ANY M cargo class with life support and enough free cargo to take them, no need for a TP here. Ooh, fun-time!
Long-term goals:
Leo isn't a brawler like Mak. He's an admiral. Secure him a command-ship befitting an admiral. (Capture a Xenon J or Terran Odin)
There are a few interesting and unique ships out there in the black. It would be to your advantage to be the only person in the galaxy who can produce and sell them. (Capture all the unbuyable ships and RE them)
Mid-term goals:
Fighters are fine for people who want to fight, but Leo's place is in a command chair. Hire someone else to man the controls so you can focus on the big picture. (Acquire an M6 or larger ship)
Nobody knows the power of mercenary teams like Leo, and diversity was the key to Mak's success. Hire a diverse mercenary force. (Hire at least one merc from every possible race)
Shot-term goals:
You're not going to make it though this galaxy without friends, and it's best if your friends are nowhere near Mak's. The Terrans managed to deal with Mak fairly well when they hail-Mary played his merc force away, and rumor has it the Borons are taking Mak's threat very seriously. (Befriend Terrans and Boron)
Leo's seen a lot of pirate life. Enough to know it deserves no mercy. (Destroy pirates)

Yeah, the rule isn't 'no personal combat', it's that all combat must be resolved by auto-pilot. An M6 or better with anti-fighter weapons like BPEs or Flak can still capture ships, even with auto-pilot combat on.mayan wrote:Errmmm, how exactly would you get the M3+ and below without personal combat?NUKLEAR-SLUG wrote:... capture one example of each Xenon craft...
Will they bail with your wingmen shooting them?
Or do you hope to capture a J with them on board? Would that count?

Oh! I got one, I got one!
Mid-term goal:
Leo does not forgive, and Leo does not forget. Find the pirate base where Leo underwent his 'conversation' to marine, and destroy it.
(EDIT: Oh wait..Did the Paranid already come in and destroy it during Mak's story? I forget. I'm sure there's some base Leo did marine training in that he could come though now and destroy, though.)

Leo here was an Ultimo Marine on the ship of a certain Split miscreant, Mak Gy'ver who used him again, and again, and again; and who, in N Ses last DiD story was the main character for whom Leo was a side character who become massively popular.
There was almost a real out pouring of greif when Leo was supposedly, in that story, destroyed in the ship he had just capped...down in Terran space.
Just do a search for threads NS started and you'll find it and another mustn't miss classic concerning a Boron named "Squidy McSquid".
