OK, maybe you're right about trailer, but to make a decent 1 minute teaser/gameplay it would require one person and 30 minutes max.

OK, you might be right that game is still an early WIP, that's why we can't have a teaser or gameplay (if I remember correctly TC didn't had any gameplay trailer either).

However, I can't understand is why they can't post more screenshots and/or conceptarts that would literally take less than one minute. I know that some thing might be WIP, some thing might be reworked or dropped, but I don't really care about that - MOAR SCREENSHOTS FOR THE PEOPLE :)

I don't know, some screenshots would be nice, but i would prefer to get some information about the gameplay...
Screenshots show object inside the game, and these are things i prefer to explore by myself inside x and not on screenshots..

Yeah, yeah i know, Asset Bubbles created by easy credit doesn't really parallel well with marketing but the point is, everybody trusted the "professionals" save a few nah sayers and see where we are now.

Agree or disagree. Its their business how they run their business. I just REALY REALLY would hate for this genre to die out.

My point is there is always room for improvement.

neither, OpenGL, best for multiplataform support :lol: and it runs on linux too.

at this point i wondering if its gona use OpenCL.

I never said trust them - I don't :p

But, I certainly have less trust for people shouting their heads off in posts in a forum, claiming to know better when they don't even have the benefit of that claim! If I had to trust anyone, it would be someone who does it for a living compared with someone shouting they know better, despite offering no support to their claim!

Again, not really trying to have a go at any particular person, but it does annoy me when people make comments which come across (as has been previously suggested) as, "Give me more info or you'll go bust!" :(

Best case scenario, the game is not due to be out for over another month. More likely a month or two after that, even if it's on time. Do you really need more info now? Until it's out, you have no choice to buy it so :?

Now want more info? That's a different matter, but that ain't really worth ranting about!

I really hope its openGL, as it'll run on Linux, plus openGL can be programmed to use DX10/11 features (John Carmack).

Mightysword, every single video and screenshot (i.e. not concept art) was ingame. The only thing they added some CGI to was the very first trailer for the people standing on the ship during the speech.

They've got at least 3-4 videos (including E3, that I can remember), and dozens of screenshots.

The point I'm trying to make is that there is nothing lost by advertising more. A few updates on the development, a "we've got X feature finalised!", or a "look at this cool ship we've finished!" is acceptable.

For better or worse, fortunately or unfortunately, the war between Microsoft and Silicon Graphics over 3D API's has already been won. There are rare exceptions where OpenGL is being used for new games, but most likely X-Rebirth will continue with DirectX. Otherwise, it would have to be called GL-Rebirth and the GL Universe. :wink:

Back to X-R, I hope that they will rework the jumpdrive, graphically something like in TC into Xenon fighters jumping in would be nice

Also i hope that they will change the mechanics from "I jump everytime I want as long as I want as long as i have enough Energy Cell", to something more ballanced like like time & range limited jumpdrive, for example:
Fighters can make only short jumps, but they jumpdrive recharge quickly after use, while capital ships have long range jumpdrives but it takes much longer for them to recharge them for a next jump. This way carriers would be even more useful because they would be able to carry large amount of fighters at longer distance quite fast.

Uhm ... if you count presentation videos than X4R also have a couple outside the teaser.

Just want to contest that quantity wise, SoTS2 doesn't have "a lot" comparing to X4R, in fact I still maintain that it has less. What was showed for SoTS2 are mostly stuff we can assume carrying over from SoTS, at least the X4R videos showed the things that are new or missing from previous games :wink:

Egosoft and Deep Silver have a plan.
We are not privy to that plan.
In the information age, lack of information is akin to withdrawal. We're all just a bunch of information junkies trying to get our fix. :lol:

For now though I remain patient, the game will eventually be released, then I'll be playing X Rebirth.

We're at now now...When will then be now?

I hope they'll rework "every single dimension" features. By that I mean those that only exists because of the player: SETA, Strafe, and Jump drive.

I have always want that fighters and freighters can't jump, and only capital ships can with a long recharge time. Players who doesn't have access to jump capable ship can pay to ride on big mothership type to jump between "hubs" of the galaxy. Too bad I didn't have the skill to mod them in X2/X3 :wink:

Lets hope it'll be developed for the xbox 360 "then" ported over to the PC.

ONLY JOKING!!!

I hope the AI is abit better (using SETA w/auto pilot, can be a problem.)

3 cores come to say HEllo to you.

Problem of SETA and Autopilot was because game(TC, Reunion, etc..) was designed for monocore CPUs. With nowadays technologies, shouldnt be a problem.

Hence it would off been nice to of developed it in DX11 due to the multi-core processing etc. I wonder if it'll use multi-cores.

The thing is, giving DX9 AND DX10/11 support is a bad idea, because they are diferrent APIs after all.

Most of game developers chose going intro the DX9/10/11 way because its likely that a DX10/11 dev do known how to program for DX9 too...

DX9 is keeped for legacy and low quality support only. And old engines, like the Call of Duty one... thats why i dont think it will be using DX9 only, but it may be.

OpenGL and DX10/11 it is good idea, because you can use OpenGL for Legacy and low quality gameplay, as well Linux support... but its harder to develop. Mostly if your devs havent had any experience with it.

Anyway, i dont think it will be supporting OpenGL anyway.

Im more intriged about it there will be stuff other than graphics runing on GPU, using OpenCL or i really hope no, Cuda.

If the gate network doesnt work, wont the Khaak, who have gateless jump drives, just take over the universe, one sector at a time? Or the Xenon just point a fleet at earth and go into 'hibernate' mode for 50 years while they travel there the normal way.

Also, what happened to the Terrans and Xenon having gateless jump drives as well?
