Steam does have an offline mode. Whether or not it works seems to vary from person to person (I've never found any problems after 6+ months of continuous usage). But if offline mode does work, internet connection loss would only be a problem if it occurred during patching or installation.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

Correct, but if there is NO internet access at all, you're stuffed, as even indefinite Offline Mode needs to authenticate at least once. But Steam discussion is best left to the Steam poll thread, so I'll end it here.A5PECT wrote:Steam does have an offline mode. Greetings to Egosoft!
The trailer linked in the OP of this thread and the video on scale have already sold X Rebirth to me. Due to your record for making quality sandbox games, I am looking forward to seeing the new reiteration of the X Universe with my own eyes.
I mentioned before that it may be in your interest to show how movement inside the Skunk and on stations/ships is handled. You have not disappointed me in this accord, I will thoroughly enjoy watching a battle from the deck of a capital ship.
Fleet commander was mentioned in the latest trailer and my interest has been piqued. I'm looking forward to further videos describing features in X rebirth, like the scale and control videos already available, and I request that as much detail as is needed to describe fleet command and NPC ship ownership towards the player be explained. Some example topics could be how hiring the pilots to fly any player owned ships is handled, do you pay them salaries? That sort of thing.
In Albion Prelude, I am used to owning pilotless AI ships that like to ram me constantly, so the prospects of a new and improved AI pathing system, and actual pilots to complain at excite me greatly.
I've already subscribed to your channel on youtube and I'll be looking forward to more updates, as well as X Rebirth's eventual release in November.

There are a few hundred that "own" the game because they have beta keys... being friends with a beta tester is really cool apparently. Wonder how cool he would feel if he could actually play it right nowFallent wrote:Emporer John, who is this person you say already owns this game?
@ Egosoft, so is there any date confirmed we can actually put money down to pre-order this and have it locked to our Steam accounts?

X Rebirth for PC is expected to be released in Soon™

Being jealous isn't cool at all.BarrenEarth wrote: There are a few hundred that "own" the game because they have beta keys... being friends with a beta tester is really cool apparently. Wonder how cool he would feel if he could actually play it right now

I'm naturally unfriendly sometimes. Don't take what I say too badly.

Really excited for this. Not too fond of the character models... (perhaps outsource that next time? I hope some talented modders can come up with some alternatives, so make that moddable, EGOSOFT!), but the very idea of walking around station and the greatly increased immersion this could provide is almost too good to be true.
Everything I've seen so far looks really enticing... The large structures, the ambience and atmosphere, the possibilities... Multiple ships are just missing, but I'm sure that, depending on the community backlash, EGOSOFT can provide this in the future (perhaps in an update or add-on). Can't seem to imagine a scenario where leaving my ship vulnerable to manoeuvre a stupid drone seems like a good idea. Where's the immersion when you know that you're somewhere else, and it's not your virtual life on the line?
Other than that... keep up the good work, EGOSOFT! If this succeeds in its ambitions, it will be a very good day for space sims... perhaps, the best day yet.

After watching the new videos I am beyond words impressed. Scope, ambition, graphics, design, ui, combat... it all seems way better than I ever hoped for. Consider me hyped!

And what a coincidence, X Rebirth provides two possible names for your child: Ren, if it's a boy. And Yisha, if it's a girl.Sp@c3Ch!mp wrote:I have waited for this game for a while now and the release date falls together with the birth of my first child

Big fan of the X series since the issue of "X2 the Threat", I discovered by accident while looking for a game to replace my very much played "Privateer". I'm really pleased to learn Rebirth will be released within two months : the looong wait will be soon over, at last
Congratulation to the Dev team !
