Bit of an idiot, i forgot to change a setting to allow you to edit downloads. Please can you try editing your own uploads again please, although I don't expect it to work as the user id's are different now I transferred the users.

That explains why I have not been able to log in to your test site (joomla).

Technically the user id (in the database) shouldn't affect you logging in, but I do remember with your account in particular there was an error while transferring. I will send you a new password by pm.

Having a different user id will cause the jdownloads component to not be able to find the user. What I might have to do is add the existing users that have uploaded a mod to a group which can edit all downloads.

If it is easier for you then I will be happy to re-register as "DrBullwinkle" instead of "Bullwinkle".

Done some work on XDownloads3 involving transferring the template from XDownloads2 and updating it. Updated it so much it looks like a new template.

Problems:
  • Some of the plugins I used before do not work, so i've lost some features for now
    • Links to your own download in user profile
    • Automatic Purging of the cache
    • Html to BBcode plugin, although i am creating this via rereplacer component.
  • Currently we don't have the forum topic iframe in the downloads although it probably isn't a huge loss.
  • Link to bbcodes not implemented yet and haven't figured out how to recreate them.
  • Template not finished yet
Positive results:
  • Quicker
  • Reliable
  • Up to date
I've also reset the download counters as they didn't mean much as bots increased them.

I logged into it but get a page with this error on both IE and chrome:

Code: Select all

0 - DateTimeZone::__construct(): Unknown or bad timezone (0)
There's a home page link on the error page but it just gave me the error again.

I found no changelog section to post release notes when pushing an updated version of Custom Start via Chrome.

The following warning text appeared after I uploaded a new version of Custom Start:

Code: Select all

×
Warning

Failed deleting CustomStart1_3_0.zip

×
Error

Problem: You has selected a new file as update. But it was not possible to delete the prior assigned file!
Refreshing the page for Custom Start suggests its still at version 1.3.0. But then when I tried to download it:

Code: Select all

The recommended file was not found!

Please inform your Webmaster
I found OK Traders wasn't editable. Not sure if it appeared via my abortive efforts to upload to x1tp last month, or if someone else uploaded this, but it's now at 1.2.3 so could use an update.

The search function doesn't seem to order by match likelyhood. For example when I search "Custom" or "Custom Start", the script of this name appeared nowhere in the default 30 matches, and I had to refine the search to be able to find it. However searching for Smart showed it near the top.

I do hope we can get a quickly accessible summary view of each uploaded script for the user account with download counters, linking to the face page for that download so it can be readily updated.

I think OK Traders was actually successfully uploaded several time when you tried to upload it. But some reason XDownloads has a glitch were it wouldn't publish anything until I logged in. So i think it classed it as a system upload.

You should be able to edit all downloads on the website as I enabled past uploaders to edit any file due to the user id problem mentioned earlier.

I don't know why it failed to upload a new version, I will look into that.

As for the searching problem, I doubt there is anything I can do for now as I have to wait for a search plugin to be published. I've looked at editing one from previous Joomla component but its a bit beyond me so far, I will keep trying.

Thanks for reporting all these problems, i'm slowly getting through them. But I think i'm going to have to wait for some third party components to get updated to get full functionality back.

I'm going to re-download all the downloads and upload them again, then delete the current file database and copy the old one over to try and fix the uploading problem.

I've decided to leave XDownloads3 where it is instead of replacing XDownloads2, I've bought a new domain for XDownloads3 which is http://xdownloads.co.uk (Currently still transferring) .

XDownloads2 will stay there but without user registration and uploads, I have implemented a system which I was going to use with nexus where XDownloads2 automatically sends you to the correct download on XDownloads3 when you click download on XDownloads2.

This means all links linking to downloads on the XDownloads2 website from egosoft forums, thexuniverse.co.uk ect will still work.

Hope that's made sense. :)

:?
No,but if you say so.

Think you mean kinking all download links from Egosoft etc,to the Xdownloads3 site, regardless of where we get the link from.
Is that right?

Domain now active: http://xdownloads.co.uk

Bugs:
  • After submitting the form when registering there is an error, however it has registered successfully. I haven't confirmed if it sends you an activation email or not.
  • When editing/adding file description, no formatting is preserved. Please confirm.
  • bbcode box still list x1tp.com/joomla16 - soon to be fixed.
  • some users may still have the 0 - DateTimeZone::__construct(): Unknown or bad timezone (0) error, I will go through and fix this.

Fixes
  • Created a redirect to get rid of the www. part of the address as it was causing the menu links to have /joomla16/ in it. eg www.xdownloads.co.uk/joomla16/something instead of xdownloads.co.uk/something
  • Created a redirect from x1tp.com/joomla16 to xdownloads.co.uk
  • Fixed Registration!
  • Made the submit, search, up and home buttons easier to click

So is xdownloads.co.uk "ready for business"? Or do you have more to do before it will be ready for heavy use?

It is ready, although i'm still slowly going though the bugs. The only thing desperately needs fixing is the front end editor which normal users use, it is not saving the formatting. So for example the user creates a new line in the text the editor (for some reason I haven't work out yet) it strips the <br /> code leaving no line once saved?

Joomla 3.1 which xdownloads3 is built on is still very new so some of the bugs may actually be theirs so I will have to wait for them. Also this is why I haven't got some of the features of xdownloadsULD

EDIT: I've also change to download and link to button for the new site version:
