Steam Launch of Patch...When is this going to happen? (A. Now!)

My steam X3:TC came with 5 and i had to request more which tages sorted me 3 more activations before i had to email them again. trying my best to get out of monthly formats.. so far so good aswell

As stated by BurnIt! a number of pages ago now, the earliest you could expect to see the patch now is Monday.

my game went down on wed and i still haven't been able to play or even get a reply from those i've emailed or pm'ed since.

everyone seems happy to tell me to talk to the next guy. but no one has been able to do anything about the problem.

if there was a problem with my post that you moved 'Carlo the Curious' it was not intended to offend. i asked for a place all steam members could request more activations to be posted on the ego forum because the steam forum is dead and the ego forums is where everyone with a problem seems to be. originally i thaught you'd give me a tages email address but none the less i didn't expect to ruffle feathers.

this is a common place for steam members to go, so having a quick link on the ego forum just seemed like a logical request.

The reason Carlo moved that post was that the contact for Egosoft to handle activation renewals doesn't need any other assorted tech support/general queries/etc which public posting of his email address was likely to cause.

People needing activation renewals need to post in the tech support forum, where they will be handled as they appear.

If you've only just tried the email address that Carlo gave you, then you'll need to wait until after Easter, I'm afraid - Egosoft employees need their holidays.

Not to mention that posting any E-mail address on a public forum is just an invitation for spammers to start sending rubbish to it. That's why we prefer to do this sort of thing via PM.

i was upfront with my request and explained what i intended to do with the information i requested.
i sent a pm asking for the information not to get anyone off track.
i posted the information like i had intended, which i asked in the original message to be stickied.
the message was removed and the two of us discussed why.
and that was the end of it.

on wed i asked for help to get my game going again, from egosoft steam and tages. i got only one reply that indicated how to do it.
this post has been up for how long? and look how much buzz there is around it.

can you tell me how long it's going to take to get my game back up and running?

and while we are at it could you post somewhere that if a player intend to upgrade their computer they need to get permission to reinstall their game before hand because it won't work anymore?

or could you tell the person who decided how many activations we should get that 'microsoft' suggests that every 3-6 months their operating system should be reinstalled to maintain best performance.

one last thing. i don't know who works for who but could you have steam contacted about their complete lack of communication? their forums havent been updated since the release of 1.4. their forum moderators don't read their forums. pm's are only ignored and they make many of us so bleeping mad egosoft forums are swelling with people like myself that are ready to snap at the smallest nudge to our ego's.

I do hope that you don't expect a post in this thread to be considered a request for assistance. If you needed assistance, you should have requested it in the tech support forum. There is no indication that I'm aware of in any of your posts that you were even seeking assistance, or that you weren't seeking it elsewhere.

As I explained in my PM - you've sent the email, but you'll have to wait until the Egosoft staff get back after Easter before you can realistically expect it to be fixed. None of the moderators or admins are in any position to hurry this process along, so it's no good asking us to.

That's standard in all activation schemes, and only becomes an issue if you have already used up all your activations. It should be a relatively rare occurrence that anyone who isn't aware of it would be in such a situation, so I don't think it really warrants a sticky for it.

I'm not aware of any such advice from MS. However, that's one of the reasons you do get more than one activation - it's supposed to allow for the occasional random occurrence such as an OS reinstall.

ES aren't likely to have any more success changing the way steam does business than the average person, unfortunately.

I have a slightly different question regarding the steam patch. I did not want to waste forum space by just making a complete new thread. After i installed the steam patch, will it work with my existing save games. I am asking because this patch is more like a major DLC/expansion to the game whereas last time, it was a update patch. I hope i don't have to restart a new game, since i like the current game i am playing.

The Steam patch is no different from the DVD patch, which is savegame compatible (mostly--there seems to be a slight bug with Drone factories not producing anything in a 2.0 game that was started in 1.4).

i would like to ask everyone involved who don't know what i was talking about in my private messages to moderators to please stop putting in your two cents. grow up and drop the matter. it was resolved. end of issue. if you still have the need to talk about it have the intrest of this site and those who use it in mind. pm the people or start a thread to deal with those issues they don't belong in this thread.

again this issue was resolved in pm's before all the extra comments.

quit beating a dead horse and lets return to the topic of this thread.
