Oh goody. I'm in the US this week - I'm going shopping :D
We are all explorers of the deepest reaches of space.
We don't just watch space on our monitors and listen to the sounds in it:
We, all of us, each and every one of us, owns, to a man, as many operational Space Shuttles as NASA does.
Yes, we're all that awesome. Give yourself a hug.

I might be able to answer that if I knew what it meant!

Soon after TC release several people reported music files as a little bit broken, few of them got minor but hearable statics. It was said at that point (by you AFAIR, will search that post in a sec) that this might be too much download for a regular patch to be fixed.

EDIT:

CBJ wrote:Before we start, let's just check which tracks you are talking about, as some of them do indeed appear to have some minor clicks and crackles. Please go into the soundtrack sub-folder of the game folder and listen to the tracks there in Windows Media Player. Listen in particular to the tracks with the higher numbers, especially those which don't list an author.
CBJ wrote:Havner, if your problem is audible in the 08231 music file then obviously it's the music file that has a problem, not the game engine. It's too early to say whether it will be addressed as most people don't seem too bothered by these small glitches in the sound, and it's quite a large addition to a patch size to fix quite a small problem!
I think there was another post about that but I didn't took part in it and couldn't find it now.

Ah yes, I remember that conversation. It was the "fixed statics" bit of your post that threw me. To answer your question, though, I think the last sentence of the second post you quoted probably still holds true.

Sorry to sound bitter, but thats a pity excuse for few additional megabytes... The fact that most people don't pay attention to such things doesn't mean that this couldn't be fixed. Still disappointed that I can't enjoy several terran music tracks.

Additionally like I suggested in that post if you're so afraid about size you could release separate zip with those music files.

It is maybe just a small issue for you, but please also put in consideration the time it could take to re-work that sound file and if it's worth doing it while more important fixes have to wait when it gets done. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but it definitely isn't worth the time.

Nub to the X

So i saw a video on youtube about X3 and thought it looked like quite a good game to try. Read alot of stuff about how complicated it is but i play eve atm so complicated is good. Im wanting to buy the game but it seems there are several "versions" of the game released or about to be released.

So my question if some of you fella's wouldnt mind giving me a reply is:

If i buy X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 (the aldrin missions) is that going to include the full version of the game or would i just be purchasing an expansion pack that acts as a stand alone game by itself. Or will i need to purchase some sort of "gold" version of the game to get X3 in its full glory.

Apologies in advance if the answer should be obvious and i missed it. I'm just entirely unfamiliar with the franchise.

Tyvm in advance

My understanding is that X3 TC 2.0 includes both Terran Conflict and the Aldrin missions, but with the game engine patched up to 2.0.

I would definitely buy X3:TC The Aldrin Missions. You'll get the full X3:TC game patched to 2.0 with the new missions/sectors and such, and also the full X3:R game with all of it's patches, so you get 2 full games instead of one. That's worth waiting a few days in my mind :).

Yup. It's the full game of Terran Conflict, patched up to 2.0. The 2.0 patch contains the Aldrin missions.

Actually for me it's kinda a big issue. I'm very sensitive when it comes to sound.

And for me it's like: you know the product is flawed, you confirm that and you are not going to fix it. It's a little bit sad. When it comes to codecs or other issues that are caused by specific configurations situation is not always simple. Here it is. Files are broken. And still you accept that. Not a quality attitude.

Well, it is. They cannot fix everything and thus have to prioritise the fixes, and as already mentioned, redoing the music to remove static that not many people have noticed is low priority.

There are many many more urgent fixes that need(ed) doing that actually affect game play and are thus higher priority.

Well, considering this:

which seems to be confirmed by this other post:

I really think the patch 2.0 should be made available right now to everyone

The patch been public knowledge for a long time due to the open beta etc so I dont think another couple of days will make any difference. Patience :)

I don't really mind wating a couple of more days. I'm playing another game in the meantime anyways. It just seems unfair that if you buy the 2.0 box you have the patch before others that bought the original version. But well... :(

I think retailers that release early should be blacklisted and only sent copies of future release after the release date.
