Hey Xaffax, I believe they said there AREN'T going to be any cockpits, so why do you keep mentioning it?

Egosoft always come through... always!

yes it takes time, they are not the biggest company in the world - if they were the games wouldn't be what they are!
You have a good point there. Much as I get annoyed by the bugs and crashes, past experience with egosoft has shown they'll work their butt's off until they sort out the problems, and then they'll release a whole load of new functionality for free... This knowledge does mitigate the frustration somewhat.

My experience with them goes back to X-BTF days (you'll see the same registration data of 06 Nov 2002 for a lot of the oldtimers - that's when the forum moved to new software, losing the old registration dates.)

Not sure if this is possible but will there ever be an option to upgrade facts and stations? IE I have a M Cahonna bakery and I'm wishing I'd bought the L version, but now I know its not enough. An upgrade path would be nice for stations in some future patch. Obviously there would be a cost, but its a thought.

Other than that cant wait for the patch. I didn't seem to find any in my plot (rank excluded), but hey you never know!

I've had too many frustrations getting this game to work, and if I have to restart my entire game because of a rediculous mission bug I'll be done with Egosoft for good. This is the patch where Egosoft can redeem itself...
Which bug is that?
Spoiler

Got through the crystal missions after rescuing the Don's daughter without problems, except an annoying one where after getting crystal from the Paranid with her, it would crash after going through the gate. Finally "fixed" that crash by completing it in my original Argon buster instead of the capped Raider I was using. But annoying nonetheless.
Check out THIS thread. There have been several others like it as well. Quite a few people are having problems with this bug, which prevents you from progressing any further in the storyline. Not cool...

I really hope this patch turns out well. I will only buy this game if it fixes the common problems everyone has been having.

I have not even seen any in game action for X3 yet. I really want to play this game.

No one cares about your views on the games industry and the human condition as a whole!
Amen!

I mean, come on people. You have a good game on your hands. With the addition of the 1.3 patch (and I'm assuming a few future patches too), your good game is going to turn into a great game. Look at it this way: they already have your money. What incentive do they have to even release a patch at all, if not for money? Why, for the community, their loyal players, and the hope that their game will become even better than it is.

No matter how much you biatch and moan, preaching your skewed views of politics and the business world, not a single thing will change. So shaddap and be greatful that your good game is becoming a great game!

***

Grr... sorry 'bout that. Anyway, in regards to the patch:

- Mobile mining
Woot! I hope it comes with an attached command "Mine Mineral..."!
- Sector enhancements
Vague, but interesting! Capturing sectors, perhaps?
- HUD render performance increased
YESS!!! This is my main problem still even with the 1.2.01 patch. If I turn off the hud, the game goes at a smooth 50 fps. With it on, the max it'll go is about 30 fps.
- Bullet render performance increased
Cool, I'll always take some more performance.
- additional user-defined graphics options
I hope I can jack up the graphics even more now
- Optimized shader overall performance
Again, can't complain at all with increased performance. Though it doesn't seem like my computer is all that GPU bottlenecked, but any performance increase is great.
- Higher quality /and speed of medium shaders
Should be useful for some, but I use nothing less than High
- Plot elements restored to working (should also be for existing saves too)
Yay! I've stopped playing the story for the time being because I read that it was broken! Time to kick some Ka'ahk butt!
- CPU load reudced, increasing whole game performance
O.o Holy cow, this is music to my ears! If the entire game will run noticably faster, more power to Egosoft!
- NPC fight AI improved
Good to hear, because I can take down Falcon M3 fighters in my Harrier :P
- GOD engine rebalanced, also affecting economy
GOD engine? I'm assuming that has something to do with the economy. I hope the deflation bug is fixed, because every single station in the entire game has a full stock of every item... which means I can't sell a thing!
- M1 & M2 shield generators increased
I've heard this was a problem. Good!
- M2 laser generators increased
Yay, they were kinda anemic before.
- Swarm missiles rebalanced and NPC AI tweaked to allow handling of them
Interesting... I liked the way they worked before, so we'll have to find out how they changed it.
- Complete tips menu with all game tips introduced
Sweet! I know I missed some before, because as soon as I entered a fight one popped up and I had to close it quickly so I wouldn't get toasted.
- Pirate stations spawn pirate ships
More fun more fun!
- Increased NPC fights and conflicts
Makes the whole universe seem more alive, I'd imagine.
- Plot ending Argon rank bug fixed
O.o I never heard about this bug, but I'm glad it's fixed.
- Argon v Boron battle issues resolved
Huh? I'm glad, I guess.
- Captured ship speed bug fixed
Phew, it would take forever for some of my ships to get places.
- Ships straiking a gate following jump fixed
THANK YOU!!! I've lost a number of takers this way.

Cheers, EgoSoft! Keep us posted on further developments, and release the patch ASAP!

Good to hear some news about this patch, still, if there's alot going on with "optimizations" and "performance increase", I am, as others have already noted, rather worried about the freeze problems some of us are encountering and which is not mentionned here. I know this is a difficult process, and everything can't be done at the same time, but I'd like to know whether this problem is planned to be fixed with this update. Right now, with this problem the game is hardly playable, and this is a shame : when I can play, I can say for sure that I'm having some great fun !

Anyway, good luck with the patch, but please think about us : "Trade Fight Build Think"... For now all I've done is thinking about a solution to get rid of this bug ! I guess I could also trade solutions with other members and fight with Egosoft to get a solution, but I still don't see what I could build :P

All sounds good. Shame they are 'fixing' the Argon/Boron fighting. I think they could have made quite a feature of that one.

Just hoping that the date doesn't slip. Would be really nice to have this one for Christmas... Not only will it give me something to play (as I wait for my 360 to be fixed), but I'm sure the devs could do with some time off, after what I'm sure has been a tough few week

All those things are great but I really think that hey should fix the Ospray (might not of spelled it right) model. I loves that ship in x2 and i hate it lookin like a Boron peace of junk. I mean, it cant be that hard can it?

Hells yeah!!! :D

Maye it'll be out before Christmas break is over...

I think X3 is a great game to begin with... it just needs a few tweaks and such, which are going to be provided by 1.3 :)

Since I'm waiting for Wild Arms 4 which is due on Jan 10th and had to stop playing X3 about 3 weeks back due to the ships spawning bug (the M5 and the Free Trader), so if this patch is out I will have something to play during the holiday :)

Well, since the GOD module supposed to fix the NPC station spawning stuff I hope it means the M5 horde and the Free Traders not respawning are also fixed ... I hope. :?
Look like an oversize Xenon L heh ? :P

Just a friendly little question, but could we get an estimate of when the mod might be out? More precise then just before Christmas but like an actual week.

Just so that I can know when to call work and tell them I'll be out sick for awhile.

any chance we can see 1.3 remove cd checks like x2 did (granted, it took a longer time for x2 to be played w/out the cd...). Dont know about you all, but I sure prefer not to deal with cd switching just to play games. So here's for wishing that 1.3 makes it happen...
