I just started trying to work with this mod a couple hours ago and I can't not figure out what I am doing wrong. I followed the instructions on the first page properly, I believe, and I have the AL menu options for FDN as well as the Plugins Config menus for FDN. The problem is, I open up the FDN Plugins Config page in the game, and I get "No FDN Elements Found", as well as some "ReadText 9910-xxxx" thing. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to start the whole node system.

Edit: Based on your above post, perhaps I did something wrong with the LI_modV7 cat/dat files? I didn't have a /mod file in my folder, so I created one. Is that where I went wrong? I chose that option (as opposed to renaming) because I went to the guide you linked on the first page and could not get through the walls of text.
Hi Rrail,

There could be a couple if things wrong.

"No FDN Elements Found" This is just the main menu saying there are no recognised FDN enabled docks deployed. The AL Plug-in is working fine or you wouldn’t see the menu.

You need to add Dock Types via the Config menu, this will tell FDN that the Type is to be recognised by the script.

If you have FDN up and running without the LI_Mod files installed, and then add it at a later date you will need to add the LI docks manually:
Logain Abler wrote: If you have started the AL Plug-in before installing the LI_Mod the Nodes will not be automatically recognised as Node, you will have to add them manually via the Config menu.
In the listed selectable docks you will see “LI – “ & “LI” prefixed docks.
“LI -” are dummy docks using a EQ sub-type
“LI” are the modified PHQ docks that FDN will look for
Make sure you add the right dock type, adding “LI -” won't break anything, FDN just wont see them.
If you are adding LI_modV7 cat/dat files and your not using any other mod then you can use the mods folder in the root directory (you have typed mod above, don’t forget the ‘s’)

I didn't expect you to respond so quickly! Ok, I believe, according to all you wrote, I have everything set up correctly, even with the mods folder (accidental mistype in my post). Even with the mods thing installed, I haven't witnessed a difference in menus or anything, though I could be looking in the wrong place.

I found the "Add Dock Types" and I think this is where my problem lies. What I am confused by is what I need to add to get it to work. Is the problem that I do not have, for instance, a Boron Equipment Dock purchased and in use as a hub? Is that what I need to do, buy a Boron Equipment Dock, set it up somewhere within a couple jumps of my station, and then add Dock Type "Boron Equipment Dock" to get it to recognize itself as a node?

I'm sorry, my questions are probably pretty simple and stupid, but sadly I can't seem to understand this on my own.

Edit: Also, despite adding the LI .cat/.dat files into a folder I created called "mods" in the X3 root directory, I don't have "LI -" or anything similar as an Add Dock Type option. I'm guessing this is where I broke your mod. :(

Yes that’s what you need to do.

As for the mod file, he game is still not seeing & loading it. Did you select it at via the start-up menu? You need to do this for anything in the mods folder. Only one allowed at a time by the game.

Ah, this was my problem. Pretty much from minute 1 I have been booting the game via the X3 Plugin Manager and had no idea there was even a mod selection option; I assumed it was automatic. FDN loads now, I see the LI stations as options in the list. The only problem I'm running into now is buying them.

It appears that the Boron station I am trying to buy the LI Node from (Royal Boron Shipyard in Hollow Infinity) is blanked out; it acts like it has absolutely nothing for sale. I know I saw you mention why this problem occurs in the thread but I can not find it for the life of me. (Edit: Rather, all it has is the "LI - SSDN CCC" for sale, nothing else).

For some reason the install script is not seeing the FDN related stations. Have a look at your t folder in the X3:TC root directory, there should ba one 9910-L044.

Try resetting FDN via the AL Plug-in.

1) A slight bug perhaps:

either 9910 is missing id 3001, or an error message is incorrectly trying to read 3001 instead of 3000 (which exists). It occurs when trying to link a factory to a node outside of range.

from version 7.2 (30/08)..EDIT: hmm apparently "08" for august and a bracket generates some rather cool looking geezer with sunglasses /EDIT

2) I am unable to get Trade dock working on a HQ class station. It was previously running as a node but I have changed it to a trade relay. It is generating the local variables FDN.Ware.Status.XXX but no other FDN related variable, and does not appear in any FDN menu.

It is in the same sector as an existing node, and I note that a long time ago a similar symptom occurred but which was fixed: is it possible that during the recent re-write that it has crept back in? (http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... &start=465)

LA you mentioned to me a short while ago how to edit menu colours. However I don't know which t file you were referring to! Which one should I edit to get it working?

The FDN text file is 9910-L044.xml. (assuming english..)

In there, you will see the various text strings that are used to provide info to the player.

The following you cannot touch:
any "%s" shouldn't be altered: these tell the parser to substitute in a defined variable for each %s

The following are format codes that you can touch:

e.g. "\033G%s\033X" means colour green (\033G) the "%s" then revert to normal colour (\033X)

I refer you to a stickie for a list of format codes you can play around with:
http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=129042

You will notice there are two main methods: one works by saying "colour everything from this point to X", and other works by delimiting text.

Hth..

Thanks and it's actually for the main UI not FDN. Any idea which file it is for that?

I tried both of those and I'm getting the same issue. I can see LI - SSDN in one Boron Shipyard (not one of the ones you put in the spoilers earlier), but in the Royal Boron Shipyard that you spoilered earlier, it is just completely blank. I'm sure I've managed to mess this up somehow and I'm sorry for asking a million and one questions.

Is there anything else I can do?

@ Rrail,

Strange one! What version of FDN & SSDN are you using?
The plug-in should fire the script which adds the shipyards and then adds the LI docks.

The game can see the LI docks as they are listed under the add Dock command.

Please have a look at you scripts folder, you should have some files:
Plugin.LI.Dock.Check
Plugin.LI.Dock.Installer
Plugin.LI.Dock.Remover
Plugin.LI.Dock.Replace

Logain,

I'm using the ones on the front page of the thread, so version 7.2. Game is fully patched through Steam to V2.7.1.

I have all of the files you listed in my script folder.

Edit: Tried a full reinstall of all mods and the game itself tonight (including deleting the root folder). The problem, I'm afraid, continues to persist. The shipyard I'd been trying before is still completely blank (as is the one in Greater Profit, and I'd imagine the rest), can't even buy the standard stuff. :(

I must be r******* and doing something improperly but I have no idea what.

Edit2: This is bizarre, it seems that now, after the reinstall, the FDN mod drops off of my Plugin Manager "installed scripts" list every time I exit the game. It was not doing that before.

Have a read back through this post or my PM post, I sure someone had the same issue and it was down to a selection on the plugin manager.

Ensure you have Ware Manager & Config Manager installed before FDN and SSDN, I sure someone mentioned this.

LA

Edit: I also always use the latest beta version of plugin manager

Just a little niggly pain. For some reason, e-cells don't show up as a ware in production, but they take up a slot on the production module. Any ideas as to why e-cells aren't showing but other wares are?

Yes. I have a production module running on an FDN node. I also get the same problem on a PM node as well.

If worst comes to worst, I'll just restart. It's not that painful.

Please turn on the wares debug via the PM config menu and PM me output of the 09913 logfile.

This is not an FDN issue.

It's all sorted. I was using FDN 7.1 with PM 7.2. I downloaded both just to make sure I had the current versions, unzipped to my scripts directory and voila, I can now see e-cell production.

Now, on with buidling my trade empire!

I was the one having problems installing the mod with the cycrow plugin manager... I ended up finally just extracting the files from the SPK and copy/pasting them by hand to get everything working...

The plugin manager kept saying "For Wrong Game..." and would delete the scripts out of the directories.. Which is I think what Rrail's issue is...
