so debris will respawn fast enough for the ships to not move to the nearby ore debris (kingdoms end), even if only a little is left?

Thanks for all the help btw

Edit: Yeah, guess they do (I've been doing it for a while now).

Awesome stuff, got a fully stocked Magnetar with some Nova vanguards docked/homebased (and a M5 in case I need something faster) to try out now, and a mammoth to send up to kingdom's end, and thats just from like the 3rd full dolphin? 4th?

So, how long does it take (in real time, SETA X10) to fill out a standard murcury? I only have 3 asteroids broken, since i started when i only had enough for the TS and the software, so i blew one up, jumped out, let him mine and when i went back i couldn't figure out where the other asteroids were, so i put 10 in there after selling my initial one and they seem to be taking a long time to fill up, though it was 2 hours prior that my first mercury was mining, since i kept reloading saves since i kept destroying the wrong roid. It seems to be going at about 2 pieces of nividium every 20-25 seconds (No SETA.) Is this normal or is it because i missed the fourth 'roid?

Seems like it's taking about 15-20 minutes to fill up a standard merc. Oh, and don't get me wrong, this isn't complaining, i'm just wondering if I'm being as efficient as i can be, since blowing up that last roid will be quite the hassle.

Well, you messed up. You jumped out (1) and then you came back (2). That's two mistakes.

1) Jumping out with a jumpdrive will cause some of the small collectable clusters to reform a bigger roid.

2) Same as 1 with the problem of throwing your freighters way outside the collection point meaning they then will collect rocks from another part of the sector... probably not nividium either.

You need to drop a normal satellite when you get to the nividium roids. That way you know where to send your freighters.

By jumping out i meant i got out of the sector, as I didn't have enough money for a satellite i also couldn't buy a jumpdrive. My freighters are all fine and working as i have the satellite now, the only problem/point needed for clarification i had was how long it takes for other peoples mercs to fill up. Right now i have 30 and they seem to be getting 2 nividium every 4 seconds or so (no SETA).

Forgot to mention, i only went in once. Once i sold my first freighter, the next lot i sent in i had set the satellite up in the right position, so i only ever went in to destroy the 'roids. I know i suck at explaining this, so there's bound to be some mixups.

It does take some time to fill up and once you get past 20 freighters you will start to see some slow down. But they are mining. Do you have a teleporter installed on the miners? That's important so they don't have to leave to fill up something else or be sold and wait for you to get another freighter there. You can transfer the Nividium to a Dolphin a few times and sell the Dolphin at the KE shipyard, do this until you can afford the Orcas.

I actually noticed quite a large speed up once i got 30 freighters going. Probably 2-3 times faster than 10. Odd how that works out, in fact i recall reading through some of the pages on this thread and saw that the same was happening, but also the opposite.

I don't have a teleporter installed, i was actually only planning to use this for a little while, but with the ROI and how quick it is, i may stick at it. Thanks for the tip.

Umm...there is a MASSIVE (like 3-5km across) Silicon Mine sitting right over the coordinates of the Nvidium 'roids...I take it I got screwed?

'Collect rocks' is under the 'Special' menu, so if you don't have the Special Command Software installed, you won't get that command.

Too late. :P
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

@Hektos: Not at all, you simply need the orphaned missile trick, which involves launching missiles from an M7M, enough in one Barrage to completely destroy it, then jump out the M7M after it's fired. Dead station, no rep loss. But you have to stay in sector for it to work.

Hi,
I've tried this several times, everytime it seems the roids aren't respawning.

I used 10xmercs told them to collect rocks they collect 4-8 units of niv each then stop, I SETA'ed for 20mins Real time came back and still no more Niv.

I'm running X3TC version 2.07.01 (latest) has this exploit/bugg been fixed?

Are you in the sector while they are mining? If so, the rocks won't respawn. You may have to reload to a prior save, or you could try a different location noted somewhere around page 12-14 ( i think, just dig through the thread. )

EDIT: It hasn't been fixed, I'm using 2.7.1, too, and it works fine for me.

If I enter (and they stop respawning), then leave the sector, will the rocks respawn after that?

EDIT:

Also, if I use up all the Nividium asteroids when I am in-sector, will they respawn after a while when I leave...?
I can't speel very gewd...

Use a TL with a transporter, leave it sitting next to the ships collecting rocks, every now and then transport to the tl, then all you have to do is send ships to the tl and transport to then, then sell them, you dont need to have any ship fittings at all in the ships you sell, and will save time.

My saved games are all labled modified, although the script editor has neverbeen activated.

Does this system not work if the game is modified as I've tried it in kingdoms end and SPG niv clusters and i get teh same result the Merc stop picking up rocks as they clusters don't seem to respawn.

If its not possible is there A a way to have to **modified** tag removed or is there a script that works with 2.7.1 that allows me to mine niv in a similar manner?

Thanks.

P.s chkdsk and reinstall of X3TC did nothing a fresh install and fresh game is still tagged modified "nice one Egosoft"

Reinstall into a different directory than the default directory. If that doesn't solve the problem then the problem is most likely your Antivirus software... believe it or not. For more on this you need to post in the Tech Support forum.

AFAIK Nividium mining should work whether your game is marked modified or not, the only thing that would break nividium mining is if you messed up when setting it up or you have a script installed that directly affects asteroids and respawns, or a script that messes with nividium/ore/silicon/ice mining.

I don0t have modified scripts. only vanilla 2.7.1.

And I have collected all nvidium rocks and now them don't respawn.

I have waited more than 8 hours leave and enter sector... and no new anvidium asteroids

They won't because you have collected them all whilst you are in the sector. They are now gone forever... This only works whilst you are out of the sector.

Steps...

1. Blast Nividium asteroid / large rocks into small rocks
2. Place satellite at the location
3. Leave the sector
4. Get a group of TS equipped with Ore Collectors and Special Command Software Mk 1 to (Jump &) 'Move to position...' of the satellite.
5. When they get there, get them to 'Collect Rocks...'
6. Always leave at least 1 TS to collect rocks at all times.
7. Except when you have to go into the sector, some say it is safer to stop the ships and then restart them with 'Collect Rocks...' when you leave the sector.
