Does AP work if you don't install XRM?
Last night I uninstalled AP and reinstalled because I couldn't get it to work after trying to install the XRM. Although after uninstalling it didn't remove the "addon" folder so I manually deleted the entire folder before reinstalling the game (reinstalling returned it to it's default). After reinstalling the game it worked just fine and I was able to play for several hours.
This is what my game directory (folder) looks like:

That is for a fresh install of AP (I don't have Terran Conflict installed). I know the folder is called "Terran Conflict" but I repeat, I do NOT have TC installed.
When I installed the mod I followed the instructions:
I downloaded the 3 files for XRM and unzipped all 3 into a separate folder located on my desktop. I then began to transfer the files to my "addon" folder as follows:
I retitled the XRM1.30_PART_1/2.cat files to 05.cat and 06.cat and transferred them to the addon folder. I retitled the XRM1.30_PART_1/2.dat files to 05.dat and 06.dat and transferred them to the addon folder.
I created a folder in the addon directory titled "director" since it didn't already have one. I copied the contents of the director folder over to that folder.
I copied the contents of the loadscr, sprints_AP, t, mov, and soundtrack folders all to their respective folders within the addon directory. I replaced any existing files with the new ones if they had the same names.
The last thing I did was delete the 00044 file within the \mov folder because the instructions said to do that.
So that wrapped up the instructions and all the files where where they were supposed to go. I launched the game and got the initial hardware/graphics setup screen. Everything on it looked go so I hit "launch" and after about 1 second of a black screen I got the error message "program has encountered a problem and must close". I tried to launch the game several times and they all failed.
So what did I do wrong?
**EDIT** To clarify, I put ALL of the XRM files into the "addon" directory or the folders within the "addon" directory. Was this perhaps what I did wrong? The instructions say to do it all in the addon directory for Albion Prelude.
**EDIT2** There is also an X3 crash log that was created which says the following:
Crash event occurred on Sun Oct 27 21:16:19 2013
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\x3 terran conflict\x3ap.exe
The exception "Access violation" (0xc0000005) was caused at address 001b:004f68cd
Process owned by user: redacted
Story call stack dump:
[000000]->[017921]#101[101].Graphics_DoScenery()
and then it lists a massive amount of blocked numbers and characters under the title "Stack dump".
**EDIT3** - What I meant by not having TC installed is just that. If I go to my steam games library I am not allowed to "play" TC. I have to "install" it first. So what I guess is that by installing AP it automatically installs most of the game files from TC in order to run but might leave a few things out?
I'm reluctant to keep messing around with installs without a definitive answer because I have a 250gb download limit on my internet (and I have roomates) and all these fresh installs will really bite into that.
