Is there a tutorial on how to get your CAG's to actually work in XRM? Does XRM change the way they function? Mine are just sitting on their ass in their home bases doing nothing while the Silicon Mines are crying out for energy cells.

Just to ensure I've got the steps right:

1) Dock CAG ship at Silicon Mine.
2) Set as Home Base
3) Command Console > Start commercial representation.
4) Fiddle with settings (I'm skipping this part for now as they're not behaving, I want them at least working on a basic level first)
5) Confirm the "Start Commercial Representation" dialog.
6) Trader proceeds to sit in Home Base for days on end with the Orders tag of "None" while the Mine is crying out for E-Cells.
7) Get frustrated with the lack of progress and set up a manual trade run.

So, is that correct? The ships (which are Terran transports that bailed, so I commandeered) both have Navigation Command Software and Trade Command Software Mk 1 + Mk 2, along with some other trading systems that were on sale.

Honestly, the best way to protect them is to get in good with the Pirates, then you won't have them to deal with.
More lasertowers? When I get later in a game I can sometimes have about 600-1000 in a game.

My problem is that they get killed in Sectors that are not necessarily near pirate sectors, sometimes even 3-5 jumps away from the pirate systems. I would need to blacklist about 4/5 of the universe if I blacklisted all the systems near pirate space.
And how can I get in good with the pirates? I started as Humble Merchant so they were hostile to me. And I killed like a ton of their ships via Lasertowers. And Via flying a bit around in my own Centaur aswell.

In the beginning of my games I assign M3/M3+ as escorts.
Later in my game I replace these with M6 Heavy's.

Setting "emergency jump" in the TS's 'Command Console' can help too.

Ah, that would be the problem then. I was reading the X3 Wiki and it didnt state that it was a necessary step, I assumed it was just for if you want to tweak it.

I'll go see if he behaves himself when told to buy the E-Cells.

Hi

Just installed the steam version of AP to my computer. Before that I played TC a lot with the xrm mod. Now I wanted to do the same with ap. After I install xrm and want to play ap with it the game stops working after the loading screen with the xbox controller. It says the game stopperd working. Anyone met with the same problem?

Got it to work (yeah!), so far the game doesn´t crash, I´m having a blast, bought my first Ore Mine, my first step to a financial empire! :D

Surprisingly, I´ve seen a lot of Pirate Mammoths almost everywhere in my game, not that I´m complaining, they leave behind a lot of missiles and energy cells when they get destroyed, but is this to be expected?

Finally using the barter part on the stations, I have made quite a few deals so far, another thing to get me interested in this mod.

Having MARS is a blast, just watching those little fellas flying off to colect my wares... Priceless.

Well, gotta go to see if I get the credits to buy my second Ore Mine, XRM rocks! 8)

Well, Been playing with the XRM for a while now. Right now, I'm trying to do the HQ plot and need to board the Orca. Issue is, I'm sitting on its hull, having finally found it, but it isn't triggering it to go red. Is there something I'm missing?

Something is either wrong with your install or you're not leaving the game enough time to load. When I start a new game it can sometimes take up to 10 mins for the game to load with XRM installed.

Try reverting back to vanilla and loading the game to see if it works then, if it does re-install and see if it works after that.

Erm if you're seeing mammoths everywhere then that's an issue. I've only seen about 1 or 2 pirate mammoths in my games total. Something is definitely wrong.

Did you install the MARS cat/dat per chance?

As far as I can see, I only installed the MARS repair drones for AP. Was there something else? The other files weren´t cat/dat, so I didn´t have to "fake" patch them.

Normally the Pirate Mammoths spawn 4 per sector (when they appear), I´m not complaining at all, but it sure felt weird. :o

I haven´t seen a Xenon yet, but I visited mostly Argon space and a few Boron systems, but saw a lot of Kha'ak which obliterated me just about now (that´s why I´m writing this).

Slowly (and I mean slowly) I´m building my financial empire, 4 Mammoths and another pirate destroyed my Mercury freighter, so I´m stuck with suplying my Ore Mine for now.

Guess this will take a lot of time, but since I´m having fun with this, who cares? :D

Question:

Is there a way to use only parts of this mod?
I want to play the AP plot and stuf, but I love the changes to missles, sectors, extra ships

Remove the mars drones cat/dats (its already merged into the xrm so you dont need it) - youre not seeing any of the xrm ship alterations at the moment, none of the new ships, and its whats causing all the Mammoths.

Youll need to restart your game.

In case anyone experiences problems in loading the last savegames:

The latest Steam update for AP seems to add a cat/dat 04 for AP, overwriting whatever you have installed as cat/dat 04 before. In my case it was XRM Part 1.

Had to rename all cat/dat above 04 to one number higher and re-install XRM Part 1 as cat/dat 05. Issue fixed.

That is strange for me as everyone talks about this cat/dat 04 change but after installing the game I have already cat/dat until number 13 so the xrm files starts with 14.

People talking about the cat/dat 04 issue are playing X3AP, while you're playing X3TC.

Installation error XRM. Please read the description of the installation and reinstall XRM, this time correctly.

Just install XRM on its own, and see if that works. Then if it does install the other things you want one at a time, keeping a backup of each working installation. Best way to install things.

I have a video tutorial of XRM installation if you want to make sure you're doing that part right. Baring in mind that it doesn't count the new cat/dat
