Question about starting with XRM
Hello!
I have a important question.
I started a new carrer as "Teladi Fence".
Befor i played as Argon.
I remember that i get to Mails at Game Start.
First is something about the War, sent from a Argon General.
The second is "XRM 1.29 is now installed"
When i started with the Teladi i get 2 Mails, too.
The first Message (where i got as Argon the "War Mail") is empty.
The second Message that XRM is installed is displayed correctly.
Is it a problem that the first message is empty?
Is it normal or is this a indicator that something went wrong.
Regards,
Goey
Edit: And a Second Question to Paul.
Is it a problem to use the Offical Bonus Downloads for AP with XRM?

Re: Question about starting with XRM
That would indicate that the game is not loading the text files correctly. This means either the scripts are not installed or the game cannot see the part 2 cat/dat.Goey wrote:Hello!

I have a question about the Albion Prelude war part.
Where exactly are you supposed to get the special war missions? I haven't been able to find any of them yet, even though I have been flying around the war zones for awhile now
Another question: How do I start the hub plot as Argon with this mod? I can't find that one anywhere

Thanks for your answer Paul!
What i dont understand is the fact that the message is displayed when i play the "Poor Trader" plot but not displayed as "Teladi Fence".
Who knows, who cares? I make a freash copy of my Steamfiles and installed XRM freshly. Now it should work everything.
Could you answer my question about the Bonusdownloads for AP maybe?
Thans for your further help!

Goey

Its possible that its a typo on that start so its calling the wrong message. If the install was wrong you'd get the same problem from all starts.Goey wrote:That responded my question. Thanks
Edit: After complett fresh install i have the same "problem".
I get the big Mail about the war with every character, but not with Teladi Fence.
Can anybody test this?

Normaly i never bother with lasertowers, i build couple of them just to keep those stubborn pirates away from my factories. But now i seem to have a problem: in an unknown sector i´ve build my complex is a pirate base ( this time i´m anti pirate, playing Savage Split starting scenario ). I´ve succesfully eliminated the pirate base itself, but when it was gone, the 4 lasertowers made a short work of my Wolf... AND my Taipan, without being even scratched! Fine, i thought, i´ll need something heavier, a Cobra was dispatched to take out those buggers. And.... hasn´t managed to hit any of them, obviously because all missiles got intercepted by the laser tower fire...
Sooo, how do you guys handle them? With uber brute force of 10 x M2? Maybe combined with M7M fire support? We are not talking about taking out a Large Orbital Weapons Plattform, are we? I´d be very thankfull for a hint!
- btw: a single pirate BlastClawPrototype has recently managed to kill my lonely lasertower! OOS it has heavily depleted it´s shields, and when i jumped in it took it out witin a minute, before i could intercept it
@paul: i normaly do not use missile boats or frigates, but since i had to try it out on that lasertowers ( and i thought, it might be helfpull in my plans of wiping out couple of Xenon sectors, too ), i´ve took a closer look at the cost/reward relation of the FlailBarage Missile, and..... for about 20k cr. i get a missile dealing 13k damage, and taking the valuable space in the cargohold of my Cobra?
I´m the first who hates M7M, even flails are very annoying, but the AI doesn´t care about costeffectiveness etc. I have even suggested to reduce the range of the Tomahawks to appr. 25 km, so to create a clear difference between missile boats ( short range torpedoboats ) and missile frigates ( artillery ). And though i can produce the flails with no additional costs ( i still pay for the fabs + it takes ressources i could have used otherwise ), they are quite large missiles, taking too much space in the cargohold of a missile frigate, imho.

Just kill them OOS, that's what I do, I mean the AI kill plenty of mine OOS so I never feel like I'm cheating by killing them OOS.

Hello everyone! I noob in X3 game.
I have 3 questions related with the XRM mod.
I bought a unfocussed Jumpdrive software and when i use the jump, each time i go to a diferent unknown sector that is not represented in the universe map.
1ª question: what's the point?
Sometimes i encounter a nice OTAS ship there (i don't know the name, the big one that produce energy i think), but i can't target the ship (so, no communication or boarding the ship)
2ª question: what can or must i do to that ship?
3ª question: despite some Xenon ship that spawn (that i can board), is this normal or some how it's not work correctly?
Thanks for any reply.

The point is that there are a number of plots that require you use the unfocused jumpdrive, as well as it allows you to mine a lot of nividium.Basturk wrote:Hello everyone!

Regarding the ship, it is a Goner Aran, read this webpage as it explains how to capture it. http://roguey.co.uk/x3ap/help/guides/aran/
All of this behaviour is present in the vanilla game and is not changed in XRM.

I do this, I have my steam game as vanilla and the main one from my disc as modified. It works quite nicely, as long as you have the space and remember that the saves are still shared.Maj. Tom wrote:You must start a new game to play the mod. You can always have the game installed in 2 directories so you can keep a vanilla (or non-xrm) installation.
