I've come to the conclusion that wordle is not a particularly difficult game to win, as long as you have a decently sized vocabulary. But, it still is fun trying to puzzle out the solutions!

I've come to the conclusion that wordle is not a particularly difficult game to win, as long as you have a decently sized vocabulary. But, it still is fun trying to puzzle out the solutions!

I enjoy comparing everyone's word list.

I've come to the conclusion that wordle is not a particularly difficult game to win, as long as you have a decently sized vocabulary. But, it still is fun trying to puzzle out the solutions!

My personal stats suggest that, barring mistakes, 4 attempts should generally be enough, but then the element of luck kicks in and you occasionally stumble on a situation where there are simply more letters that could be right in a particular slot than you have guesses left available.

In cases where the final word is unusual, a broad vocabulary is obviously necessary, but the rest of the time it can actually be a hindrance because you end up trying really obscure words instead of the obvious. What impresses me, however, is those in this thread who aren't native speakers who seem to do be keeping up with the rest of us pretty well.

The histogram distribution for number of guesses to find the right word suggests that eventually, my luck will run out and I won't get a word in 6 tries. The average is a solid 4 guesses.

Mine's similar, with a somewhat larger sample:

1: 1
2: 4
3: 11
4: 30
5: 10
6: 3

It doesn't show the number of failures, but the percentage I see implies that it's probably 4. Current streak is 36, so I'm either getting better or luckier.

I think it's as much intellect as vocabulary. - I often implode if I have several yellows in an early guess as I now often lack the mental agility to reorder them into another word. My vocabulary is large, my intellect lags behind a little.

My guess distribution:

1: 0

2: 3

3: 10

4: 19

5: 12

6: 8

As I've played 53 times, I believe that means I failed on one occasion. (Current winning streak is 40)
