BECAUSE, the language files are PART of the patch. And as it will only take a couple more days to finalize them, it makes no sense to have 2 separate releases.

Don't worry, you'll probably have it before next week (crosses fingers). THEN, we'll hear the screams and wails and cheers and what not on the forums.

@Burnit!
Better power up another forum server, I think the current ones will get swamped.

There is always the other option. Prepare a patch that wipes the 't'-folder clean. They want no (translated) text, so let them have no text.

Besides, making the voucher takes about the same time as translation.

I once did read a book. It was translated. The translator had omitted a chapter, because "it would not be of interest to local audience". Guess which chapter I had interest on?

I cant wait! :D

@Egosoft: This is a huge content increase and there appears to be alot of frequently asked questions. With respect, would it be possible to include a link to a FAQ page on the first post to save people trawling through the pages?

Thanks

An FAQ page containing what? The first post in the thread contains all of the available information, and as has been explained a number of times, we are not going to tell people about absolutely everything about the update to avoid spoiling it for those who like to actually play the game rather than just reading about it.

I assume that the presence of a goner sector will finally mean a changeable reputation with the goners.

I got your point CBJ and when it comes to "additional functionalities" i don't want to know all that's implemented into the new game in advance. However revealing more info about (hopefully) fixed bugs in 2.0 would hardly spoil anybody's fun. You must agree that 1.4 didn't clean all the problems in the game and all of us now expect as cleanest game as possible. And in some cases it might even prove useful to us to know if you have clean a certain problem. So don't get upset if somebody asks you if a bug, not mentioned in the "07.11 update" is fixed or not :)
Speaking of which, any news on the "complexes" front? :P

If people ask about specific bugs then I don't mind answering, as long as the same question doesn't get asked too often. ;)

What "complexes" front is that?

Maybe not a bug per say CBJ but id like to know if the performance of the cursor is enhanced. I mean is it a software cursor or hardware driven cursor, as software are usually slow in games so if games have option to use hardware for the cursor i pick it and they respond much better.

Reason i ask is that fps in game is great its just the cursor thats like slow in the game as in it takes alot of mouse movement to go from one edge to the other compared to other games (after using mouse sensativity options to higher levels).

This would be a very welcomed fix if its fixed in the patch if not then :(

Hmm btw I just this moment was messing about and i opened this in VLC Player x3 reunion\MOV\00002.dat And looks like nice rendered in full color items for like advertisments or somit. I dont think i have seen them vids in the game before, are these in cutscenes or in the plot as i have only got up to after the drone mission. Not about patch i know but if there not in the game then just woundering why its there as its 500mb in size and be ashame if they wernt used.

I believe you can adjust the sensitivity of the cursor using the Windows settings for this. The smoothness of the cursor movement is tied very closely to the framerate so if your framerate is poor then so will your cursor movement be. There have also been some issues reported with USB mice on systems in which the processor is struggling with the game. There is nothing the game can do about this, but using a non-USB mouse seems to solve it.

No usb mouse
No, windows adjustments for mouse is not relected in game. I have tryed this. Besides my mouse in desktop is perfect and is not the same ingame. Cusor speed on desktop is set to fast and is, but isnt in game.
The problem i believe i have said is that the game is using horid performing "software" contol of mouse instead of being hardware accelerated.
FPS is high
Mouse is ok in combat mode but when you switch to menu mouse mode and on main menu its slugish.

Slowdown in menus is normally caused by the framerate dropping with certain very low-end graphics cards.

Erm i dont have low end card. Its fast.

You dont get it, its nothing to do with fps. Its "software controller" mouse instead of "hardware accelerated" controled mouse.

Perfect example is in games like galciv 2 where there is software/hardware mouse handling options. Switch between them and you see a big difference.

Yes I do "get it", but for the majority of people who are not suffering framerate problems this hasn't been reported as an issue. The method of processing mouse input data and drawing the cursor has not been changed for 2.0. Now, I would suggest that this isn't the appropriate thread for an in-depth discussion of how mouse input works under DirectX.

Shame its not been looked into since i posted about the mouse in tech forum ages ago and countless others did which i believe never got resolved. Guess its stuck on software mouse and not hardware mouse. :(

Im glad in other games like galciv2 and others where when it defaults to "software" mouse you can chance to "hardware controlled" mouse in the control options in the game itself and it speeds up the mouse like how it should be (desktop use performance).

my mouse operates at exactly the same speed as it does in windows xp, both of them do (ball mouse and wireless optical mouse), the problem must be with your setup, if you like a slow mouse in xp you will get a slow mouse in X3, try having a usb mouse and a ps2 mouse installed at the same time, 1 thats fast, optical mice seem to have this, make it hard to aim in fps because of thier picking up the slightest movement, and an old ball mouse for stuff to be slow with.
About the name - i was lost for a name on the forum and looking round, then a Bob Hope film came on, and i thought "that will do nicely"

i was born and raised argumentative i dont mean to offend ...... sorry

CBJ, the 'complex front' was about the method of creating complexes. in other words has it been refined?

Also, tis interesting that the minimum zoom distance for ships is being reduced again. Must have fixed the camera problem or something.

Or simply succumbed to fan pressure. Sometimes whining does help.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

Yeap, thanks mate  .So far we had to put up a real fight should we wanted to create a nicely looking complex. Requiring so much calculations and precision is ok to an extend but loading 12 times to build a self-sustaining LSSP... After the first coulple ot complexes i just started "pouring" the stations and screwed the appearance 8) Ok it's may be just me not being crafty and imaginative enough but as far as i can see on this forum...it's not :) So...any progress?

Complex construction is not changed in 2.0. There have been some minor corrections to menus, but this won't affect how you go about building them.
