Not a problem on my route.

Unfortunately I recently misjudged the heat levels in sc and my cargo hatch failed

Hi, :)

I've just recently tried out the 'Debug Camera'. I mapped one of my keys to bring up the camera, and tried it out. I get the view looking forward with no cockpit visible/hud etc. but I'm a bit perplexed at how you can actually view your ship from outside?
What controls/keys/buttons do you use to do this?
I've had a look on the Frontier forums for information, but I can only find references to the initial key mapping to bring up the camera...I can't find any references to how you can use the camera to look at your ship from different angles and distances etc.
Any help here would be appreciated, the solution is probably staring me in the face so to speak, but I can't see it at the moment!

Basically the same controls that you use to fly, Joystick and the WASD keys. The camera is a little slow for my liking, but I appreciate the reasons for limiting it.

Now go take some screenies!!! :D

You might want to back the camera up a bit/point it down to get the ship into shot. All the controls, including the strafes will move the camera so just experiment until you get a good view.

If you're like me you might want to orient the ship so that some light falls on it before activating the camera. If it's pitch black you're not going to see much.

I'd still rather a 'drone' but the debug camera is pretty decent and goes a long way towards appeasing the 'we don't want external views because they allow for cheating' brigade while at same time appeasing those of us who want to take half decent screenshots.

Some of my shots with debug camera.

Plus it's nice to be able to see behind you from time to time, like you could in every other Elite game up until this one.

I want this game, but just wont have the time to play it at the moment...
...
But I want it!!!!!!!

The original is what got me hooked on open world games.

The game has designed so you can drop in and out at any point (apart from when you are under attack) so from that perspective it quite easy to play for short amount of time at a go, however , it never seems to work out that way, game minutes always seem to much longer than real ones. ;)

I made a serious uber class boob lastnight I decided my awesome sounding (ferrari in a tunnel) Viper was not so good for the trading ect, so I stripped it and went to buy a Cobra...and....doh....the station I was at did not sell them!

So I hastily bought back Frameshift and lucky for me there was a station a few systems over at Towsend Hub, the wiki's and site for ED don't seem to have a lot of useful info.

Na, not that bad, when you strip stuff it's still there to re-buy only if you leave the station do you lose the option to re-buy what you stripped.
It's more a palm to forehead slap accompanied by DOH!!

Cobra's tend to be available most places with reasonably populations, I tend to filter on galactic map for high population in industrial and hi tech systems.

Oh yes I had other epic stupid moment last week when I tabbed to get across menu instead of Q/W and at time I was 4k from station, RavenIII heard the bang I thought I got shot at but alas nope was my ship pancaked on station front :D

i panicked in a battle agains a conda.

lost my shields, hull was 64 from previous battle.
i was looking at the scanner, turned my back on conda, and activated afterburner.

then i looked up.

line of thought was about like this:
"oh, an asteroid."
"shit, an asteroid"
"yup, we're crashing into it."
BOOM
"oh, look, I'm not dead."

hull was 24%. I escaped the conda, restored shields and than came back and destroyed the conda. badass/stupid moment.

Congratulations, and well done! 'theeclownbroze' or 'Cmdr Onepercent'

I was just looking at the recent video announcement by David Braben.
It's amazing the amount of hours/time the winners of all three 'Elites' have put into this game. :o

OH WOW Thanks guys!!!! Thanks for the kind words and I mirror my statements on the frontier forums to here :D

I officially gained Triple Elite Ranks in 2 months and 6 days.

Time each day: 12-16 hours every day since december 18th. So I actually started 2 days after the competition started.

I began with exploration, It was my favourite pass time, then trading and finally combat.
