If we get new sectors through a patch or mod, will there be any problems? Will those new sectors be able to use your backgrounds?

I do not recommend to use my mod along with other major mod Sticks. It needs a rework to get the full advantage of the illumination, etc. In any case eliminating the x universe from the mod you can use the background images in any other mod that uses the vanilla ones.


RED BORDERLAND SECTORS added. I think that i will change some red sector to another color, excessive red backgrounds for my taste. What the peoples think?

NEW PLANET RINGS also added. New texture based on the original game one but filtered and doubled in size. Now i can use the rings in several sectors to add visual variations.

Reworked the look of dozens of sectors. I detected a rare thing, a lot, and i mean a lot of sectors dont follow its current description, Like a sector with a watered huge planet without a watered planet, a deep space inhabited sector with a huge planet with nightlights, etc........ Im changing the look following strictly the sector's description.

The collision on a Khaak sector has been solved. Thanks to Ketraar to show me how to detect colliding objects in the editor.

A lot of things in the works....

Stupid Question, but can you look at my screenshots and make out if the mod works? Im not really sure I see any difference (especially the new lightning)

Yes Larent it works. Try to start a new game without the mod and you will see clearly differences. The light in the terran sectors its white in the original and all the fabs are pure white for this reason, i changed the light colour to accommodate to the brownish look and equilibrate the amount of light depending to the sun distance. Also i added reflective light from near planets (you can see the blue reflection coming from uranus) that is under use in the vanilla game.
The new version will have the double of work on lightning/repositioning of suns and planets.

Yes, keep different mods in different packages.
A graphic overhaul should be just that, graphical. Changes to the galaxy would be another mod, and new structures/factories would be yet another. There's few obstacles to stop players from stacking mods/scripts as they see fit, so please leave this option open.

I'm using a huge pile of mods at the moment. So I can't explain why I'm having huge issues with the Uranus sector. I'll try a fresh install and do it again. The latest version is in the first post, right?

In vanilla there are ugly pixelized patches of dust in Uranus sectors that your ship will fly through. With this mod, they are removed. That's the most immediate difference with Uranus sector before/after this mod.

Green eye sectors added. In between a green/blue soft sky, i think we need some very light and soft backgrounds to get another mood flying through galaxy.

Im working in other background for the terran sectors, i need to change the horizontal layout that breaks the look of uranus.

What happens if I wont start a new game with this mod ? I'd like to try but I'm afraind about messing up my game with this procedure ;)

You'll get the new backgrounds, but you won't get the new lighting effects. And that's like ordering a cheeseburger but only eating the bun. I've gone back and forth with no problems as far as the savegame working

Wait for the next release though

It seems that there's going to be ton of new stuff in the new version, like improved lightning, some reworked sectors and planet rings etc.

Does this mod (or is it planned to) do anything about lens flares? Right now they are wildly different in every sector. I would tone them down/try to unify them a bit.

Another thing is planet inconsistencies, some are spinning and some are not (such as Mars). How possible are these to fix?

Some planets use unique textures (Mars, Earth, etc). These planets do not spin because then you would need the unique texture for the entire sphere and that would be a pretty big texture. Especially a planet like Earth, that almost fills up your view (in Earth sector). A good, crisp texture for the entire Earth would be gargantuan.
