Funny stuff...

Ya know, I'm sure it's been said about a billion times already, but historically speaking, isn't this par for the course with Steam and it's updates? And if we have a Steam version, shouldn't we expect these types of delays? The answer to both questions, obviously, is yes.

Personally, I'm on the last leg of the hub mission with about 20,000 microchips left, so no real hurry. It would be nice to have the update, but I'm not going to pop a blood vessel because others have it and I don't. Hollering about it ain't going to make it happen any sooner. Sure is a nice day today. Think I'll go for a stroll in the park. Anybody want to come along?

Please don't.

I wonder if there would be the same degree of whining if the little 2.0 bugette had turned out to be something destructively game-breaking?

still. there is no need to use those types of arguments.

i am one of the top complainers. however using those types of arguments are dangerous and not GOOD for anyone.

and yes they can lock the topic for that very reason.

i insist edit the delicate sentence over there.

thanks.

Unfourtunately its not game breaking its game fixing that 2 does so well. For those of us with the lower range rigs with less cash for our hardware playing x3 TC can lets say be very demanding on your systen to the point where combat becomes a no no cos your ram can't handle it.

So for me this just trying to get what I paid for in the first place a game that I can play and that doesn't crash my system every time it gets fun.

this topic is good, so people can vent their frustration, i can see you want the topic locked right?, but there is a lot of people that still wants to see the topic alive. until it gets fixed.

I'm not a fan of CBJ. He told me the Generational ship was never in Elite.

The scars run deep.... :)

That doesn't explain the barking huge ship I found which launched a load of kraits at me when I opened fire. I imagine I'll never know what that was.

Oh dear, the things I witter on about while waiting for the steam patch

I'm not too worried though, it'll turn up at some point.

re: why it would take time to deploy a patch...

wellll... with so many variables , fixing computer / programming issues can take time... however, esp. with economies in ruin, companies (not saying Egosoft) want to keep customers happy and stimulate them, so they'll release something earlier, not always fully tested, as well, some are not as concerned with happy customers as they are with money so they'll rush to get it out, though buggy.. Egosoft had an unexpected issue and from what I understand they had tried to coordinate the two platforms' releases...

As frustrating as it is, it is still something to look forward to, as well, I'm content twiddling my thumbs, as I've got not a single other thing to occupy my time... ;)

sooo... Monday it is?!

I've held my tongue for long enough. This is total bullcrap. Wed night and still no 2.0a.

Make all the excuses you want for steam... This is just plain old laziness and bad customer service.

Seeing as they won't put it out 'til Monday at the earliest, there's really little point in expecting it to arrive sooner.

That said, I must agree it's really bad business sense to let one person stop your service like this (and I've let Steam know this as well through their forums). I don't believe I'll ever use their service again as it's really not credible that a large company like Stean/Valve could make such a bad call and let it stand unchallenged.

Has steam stopped you from playing TC 1.4? Probably not, so they haven't stopped your service.

It does not take a genious to understand that the term "service" as I referenced includes having any and all patches to the products the Steam service hosts in a timely fashion. Please stop nitpicking and just agree that what we're seeing here is subpar service as far as Steam is concerned.

I got tired of hearing myself complain about these guys. So congrats to egosoft, steams failure is egosofts success.(At least in my case) I now own a box copy of Terran conflict as well as the steam copy i originally purchased. And before you all make statements like, you are stupid you cant wait till monday? Its the principle of the matter. I rid myself of my steam account because i wont be doing business with them anymore, however I love egosoft, so the extra few dollars doesn't bother me.

I don't believe Steam has to provide patches at all, so be lucky with what you have. Steam's "service" is to provide digital game distribution. They've done that. Enjoy your game and the fine service they have provided you.

Quite wrong. If Steam did not provide patches (which would make the games unpatchable), they would not be making a profit and Valve would not keep it running.
