M6 CAN only have 5 marines (is the springblosson different?)

sorry, my mistake, I have 5 marines in my Springblossom. The 10 are in a different ship. But even with 5, should be able to board. Right?

Boarding noob here!

Ok, I have a fleet of M3s (around 20 in 2 wings - fast and slow), half dozen M6s (all Heavy Nemesis) and 3 TPs (as a wing)... I have tried boarding a couple of times but I haven't met any success.

Here's what I have done:
- take on a "Defend so-and-so Station" mission
- take out all the fighters (M3-5)
- leave the M6s to last
- send command to TPs to follow boarding target
- send command to fleet to attack boarding target's shield
- once the shield to down to a reasonable level - eyeballing 5-10%, send them away (Follow me or Idle command)
- send command to board and continue to take down boarding target's shield...

... then nothing...

Once, the target turn around and start firing at me and the TPs...

Another time, I kept a small number of M3 to keep the shield down, but they blew it up!!

I know I've done something wrong here, but what? Please help. Cheers.

The "Board" command doesn't work so well in 1.4. Use the Launch All Marines command under the ship's "extra commands" slot.

Also, you're overcomplicating things. You have an M6, which is the only ship you need for non-pod boarding operations with its ability to carry 5 marines and its firepower--fly it yourself and do it that way, rather than relying on the AI.

Some time in the distant past (in X3TC), I bought a piece of upgrade so that I can jump back into my ship after claiming a ship in space suit. And I can't remember what that piece of upgrade is called. I guess I need to buy the upgrade for a couple of my M6s so that I can jump from ship to ship to execute the boarding...

Whats that about?

The Elite can't be boarded because it's an M3: only M6-class or bigger can be boarded. Fighters can be claimed after the pilot bails out, no marines needed. If the other ships were fighters, TS, TP or M8's too that would explain why you get the warning message. Also, make sure you have targetted the ship you want to board and that you're close enough.

5 marines is plenty to board most ships. I have taken ships with as few as two marines on occasion. Some ships are tough nuts to crack though, it may not always be enough. Xenon ships reportedly are amongst them.

Is that extra command slot available in the vanilla game or using cycrow's boarding script ?

I've made one attempt at boarding in the vanilla game and I immediately understood the need for the boarding script as I manually transferred each marine to the boarding party and flew straight past the ship I was trying to board .... :)

It would be nice if the vanilla game had the ability to set up the boarding party pre-engagement with the target.

I've not installed the plugin manager yet - I would like to stick with the vanilla game .. but I also want to board that Hyperion ... :wink:

It's available in the vanilla game--I don't ever mention stuff that isn't in vanilla, because I don't play modded myself.

so, which are good ships to board and where do I find them?

I'm planning to use my Vidar, ok?

I don't want to lower any race rep, tho don't care re Pirates (not Yaki)

Where is this Hyperion I keep hearing about? I thought it was a mission reward? like in X3R? Will capping it affect race rank?

Where can I cap an M2 or M1 without affecting racce rep?

Pixel may i suggest you help yourself by reading the thread as everything you ask except

has been asked and answered multiple times.

I would like to know where is this Springblossom i keep reading about is. If i were to hazard a guess, and i am, i would say it is a Terran ship as i have hardly touched the Terran Sectors.

The type of ships that you can board is mentioned in the first 2 pages of this thread. Yes the Vidar is ok. Several people already mention they have used that to board ships.

On the race rep issue apologize to any ships that are red of that race and do one or more missions for them. I would not suggest boarding ships in sectors where you have factories or busy trade lanes that your ships use as its possible that not all reds return to blue after apologizing. Let some time pass in that sector.

What is the best M6 for boarding? I like the (Split) Dragon... it's been my favorite "command" ship since X2 (where is completely ruled).

BUT the Dragon has bad shields, and that's not good when boarding and keeping the shields of the target ship down. So what would be the best... im asking experienced boarders... (im more of a trader myself.)

I was so pissed. Finally got a Xenon Q's shields down without getting pummeled in the process.

I had fully outfitted Tiger and Panther shield stripped off of Q in 10 secs. then when shields went down the damn thing turned and rammed me, exploding took rest of my shields off and hull down to 30%.

As far as some earlier posts.

I parked 4 equipment docks in one sector, used one ship with 1 each of everything I wanted docks to get. including boarding pods .

( I use Luckies Commercial agent script )

And all my docks seek our and buy everything im fully stocked with pods

i will not ever ever again try to board a nother ship till cycrow script is added to there list .i used it before and it worked great just hit the button and bam there out and heading to the ship but since i have had some other problems with station traders not using jump drives and when asked for help from egosoft they said they dont help it u mod or add scripts so i will wait .does anyone now when they might release said bonus pack?
i want to board so bad i can taste it but i dont want to break my pc using egosoft crap nonfuctional boarding command. i think its kind of stupid they didnt hot key that i mean they hot key drones and wings but when u have to fly a ship so u dont crash and also have to avoid fire u should not have to go through all those menus when i give the command before had it never worked or they launched at a bad spot and then just floated in space like nubs . and dont get me started on the stupid command to try and have ur ai board for u lol what a joke. please add his script soon

The same number that are required to board any ship smaller than an M1 or M2--5.

Thank you very much I just started with it :)

In my first attempt I tried capturing a standing still TL and marines couldnt breach the hull :( (guess they need more than 2star mechanical to breach it)

you need 5 star to get through the hull on a TL from what people say.
