Thanks Dude will see me through until 1.3 is readyThe_Abyss wrote:
There will be an update available quite soon which will be a version 1.2.1 (at present) prior to the release of 1.3.
Without wanting to be pinned down to an exact time, I'd be surprised if this was not available before the weekend.
The feature list will be posted at the time of release, so I'm not going to run through all of them now or later. However the priority areas of focus are:
- re-building the plot missions
- overall game performance, specifically looking at the HUD and menus
- Tooltips
- crashes / freezes upon targetting

I think we'll just have to be patient for the missing/broke things in X3. It only makes sense they fix the ctds, bugs, optimise the framerates etc first. A stable game is needed before all the content. I guess that is what 1.3 will be for, the missing content etc......anyway looking forward to this update whatever is included. Thanks for shedding some light on the situation Abyss

In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move...

I'm not sure why you think you'll have to. One positive point of previous Egosoft patches is that savegame compatibility remains (hear that, Activision?shireknight wrote:Oh no this is terrible news-I don't mind replaying the missions everytime a new patch is released but what about everything I have gained up to that point specifically speaking my ship?
Will there be an option where I can tap in a starting amount of money so I can quickly buy a ship equal to what I have now?
I brought X-BTF and X2 after all the patches had been released so never had to worry about this problem before

From this post which is on page 1 of this thread
"If you're using a save from 1.0, then the crashing will keep happening. I started again and haven't had any issues since. If you're using 1.2 from the start then I don't have any ideas"
It makes sense from what the guy said, if the instability is carried into the 1.2 save then if you don't restart you will carry the problem into your 1.3 installation yes?

Is the front page going to get updated too? It's still announcing the fact that 1.2 should be reading for the 28th... but never said it actually wasThe_Abyss wrote:There will be an update available quite soon which will be a version 1.2.1 (at present) prior to the release of 1.3.

Oh no, it's another annoying niggling post - but it would be nice if it was reflected

I was getting a CTD when dealing with pirates. I could target them around 15 km out but when i got to within 5 or so km then the crash would happen. I fixed my issue two ways. First I went into the dxdiag and reduced audio hardware acceleration to nothing and that seemed to work. I didnt really like that solution since the audio seemed a little buggy so I went a bought a new audio card. I ended up with an audigy 2 sound card since they were only 50 bucks. That has since fixed my issues. I was useing the onboard audio for a Nforce 2 motherboard. It had surround sound so I thought it was good enough. I guess not. At any rate I dont crash anymore with the new card.

Make me think... What common things happen when you target a ship, dock and comes 'into range' of pirates!.prodaytrader wrote:I was getting a CTD when dealing with pirates. 'Argon .. Nova', 'Welcome to ...', 'You are now in fireing range'.
The sound clips are played!!
I'm at work now so can't really check this out, but some of you with spare time might try to check if the CTDs happen when those audio clips are about to start. Maybe there is some indexing error or something and game try to play mp3 (or whatever format they have) from some random memory location ??
