Great guide, thanks!

Unfortunately, my economy seems to be a bit different. I've got no NavSat fab in CloudbaseSW and the Trading Station is already filled with SpaceFuel. I've also had troubles selling a load of borrowed Silicon for at least average price. But ore works wonders. :)

Tsar of Cows, I have added a wheat farm in Home of Light, and it seems to be doing well. I have a buyer and a seller for each station, and they are usually selling in their own sectors. I have seen a couple of times that the herrons nebula seller would come down to the home of light sector though.
Hope that helps :)

Sounds good them.

Meanwhile, I've set up a wheat farm complex in Heron's Nebula, which also works well.

Oh, and I found a good place for a station in Split space, I'll add it to the list.

Another starting trading tip is going to either Cloudbase SW or Home of Light, and buy Calhoona meatsteaks there at low prices (34-46ish) and selling them at the local trading station (72) or factories (high 60s).

A shorter trip than the energy cells :)

Just made my first 100k doing this.

What I want to know is how you get them to be Universe Traders!? I have a level 8 sector trader and I can't get him to start out Universe tradeing. He has shields, a weapon, and a jumpdrive too. :(

The universe trader needs

25MJ Shields
Fight Software 1 AND 2
Trade Mk 3

That's all I think. Then the option should come live when the pilot reaches levl 8.
Always welcome! Cheap and filling!

Another suggestion thanks to my ever expanding empire.
A solar power plant in Home of Light
This sector already has 3 crystal fabs, and no solar power plant. Although there are SPP in Ore Belt, if you set your prices low all the ships will flock to your station. Currently I have 1 Mercury buying crystals, and the factory does very well with other people buying E-cells for 14 credits.
Although pirates occasionally stray into the sector, the titan deals with them quickly (but not quietly  ). Although SPP cost almost 5 million credits, they do make a lot more e-cells, and a lot quicker.
Hope that helps :)

There are plenty of smugglers in the pirate sectors (I chose Split Fire, plenty of traffic) . . . just get a frieght scanner and patrol one of the gates, checking every frieghter that comes by, and you'll get enough pirates to keep you busy. Be sure to have your own frieghter nearby to pick up dropped cargo - there will be a lot!
And after hundreds of years of evolution, the common housefly still doesn't know that the big, solid, clear thing is a window . . .

During a certain time in the plot, capping ships of a specific race is possible without further penalty. Split Fire is an excellent sector for doing this.

Heres a tip for Complex bases.

Before you set one up ensure that the sector has both ore and silicon mines As these are the only true resource in the game.

You get NOTHING out of a base that consists of

Silicon Mine
Crystal Fab
Solar Station

You get wheat out of

Silicon Mine
Crystal Fab
Solar Station
Wheat farm
Cattle Ranch
Cahoona Bakery

But this is where this set up pays off

Add to it an ore mine and rhimes fact

you can sell

Wheet, Ore and Rhimes

Do that for a bit with 3 transports.....OR

Add pretty much any high level stations you want, and as many as you want...

Mine is currently churning out Mosquito's, Firefly's, Warheads and Space fuel.

No money goes out of the complex and ALOT goes in :)

I'm trying to follow the guide to selling Nav Relay Satellites, but I can't find the factory in Argon Prime! There is an 'Advanced Satellite' factory - is that the one that's being suggested?

I haven't found any other trading stations that stock it, so try the Pirate bases.
Trading Station in Montalaar is buying spacefuel.

Also a general tip for traders: first thing to do is to check as many high-tech factories that have full stocks and dump their products into EqD's and trading stations. Aside from obvious profit (as you already mentioned) this will again start their production cycles and after a while there'll be a serious demand of food/energy/ore/silicon for you to satisfy.
Hept factory in CBSE holds 8+8 A/BHEPT's with 15-19k profit margin, that's about 300k from a single factory.

In my universe, Argon Prime has both - a normal and an advanced navsat factory. But since I'm missing the factory in Cloudbase SW I guess the universe is a bit random.

The pirate base in company pride always pays around 1250cr for space fuel.

Jump in, offload and fill up with e-cells(12-13) then jump back and sell the e-cells back to the distillery.

You can do this every 20-30 minuets and make 80-100,000 credits.
