It's a pretty daring decision, since you can't really have been far off anymore with regards to the release of the Xpansion.
It's also a bit of a shame since I had deliberately played my last game to put myself in a good position to continue the Xpansion without being overly powerful. Guess I can scrap that...
One thing I'm worried about is that the release date for X3 is overly optimistic, especially since you are putting a new graphics engine in. Q3 is only 3 months away, although technically you could be talking about 6 months from now.
I hope that with the new graphics engine, you will keep your players with slightly less than optimal hardware in mind. While the X2 engine was (and still is) beautiful, it also runs a bit like a crippled dog. And while I've personally just upgraded and am running X2 at 100+ fps now (and thus should be able to handle your new engine), there will be many many people that won't be able to run it very well. (Ie, the current crop of people that can just scrape by in X2).
However, not to sound totally negative, I'm THRILLED about the idea of an X3 with far different sectors and economy. Sign me up.
But... what will we play now at the end of april?
