Wooohooo I was right for once. Anyways good chapter and shame the fight hasn't started yet. Any chance you'll be posting more today? I'm off for a week round the north of Scotland and hence wont be checking in until I get back. A good fight to see me on my way? ;)

No, sorry Al, I haven't got more than a general idea of the structure of the next chapter, but there will be plenty of violence to look forward to when you get back. Have a great time.

Excellent one, Steve! Good to see somebody still cares to teach Max :D I was wondering if the Pegasus was fast enough to go through the gate without asking permission. That ride through Xenon space reminds me of sitting on the back seat of a motor cycle ... just hate it, much rather drive myself :D

Looking forward to more (violence )

Thanks K, the problem with gates is that you are at zero velocity when you exit so speed won't save you, particulrly in a weak shiled ship.

Ah but in a ship like that the boost would get you away from the gate so quickly that unless the pirates were firing at it before you arrived, you'd get through ok.

Excellent again.

So Law has contacts in the Boron sector, now that could be useful to Max....

One typo: '..panel build into..' should be 'built'

Would you want to try and run through multiple LT and fighter fire from a standing start with no appreciable shielding? Look at the way LT's around a gate slice up Mandalays and the little Xenon thingies when they come through.

In his own sector no less. Thanks for spotting the typo.

For a good pilot in a Pegasus it would be no trouble at all. for the AI it would be impossible :D

Excelent stuff Steve!

Brilliant.
some who deserve life receive death. Others who deserve death receive life. Can you give it to them? Don't be eager to deal out death in judgement, for not even the wise can see all ends.

Difficult to test I suppose as it can't be done in the game, or at least I'm not aware of any method. Still think it'd be extremely risky with only a 1MW or so shield.

I'm extrapolating from the intention of the LT technology rather than the game implementation. LT's should certainly be able to hit a single sitting target, particularly if there are several, with different firing modes active, particularly if programmed to fire instantly on anything not broadcasting the correct IFF.

I'm also remembering how difficult it was to survive going through gates in XT when the bug that piled up enemies on the other side was still in. Was vapourised many times early on, at least until I got a Piranha.

Who me??? actualy i'm beginning to think you change the story just to make it look like i'm getting things wrong, when ever I do get close to guessing right that is! (hows that for suspicion? :D ) writers, lead you down one path then go off on a new tangent, I dunno just so unpredictable  great stuff

Just read part three, not making any story predictions this time, but I am looking forward very much to seeing how things pan out on Laws station, and also the upcoming pirate station assult.
