Goner rankings

I remember looking to see what my starting "Goner" ranking was when I flew through CBSW the first time. It was "Accepted Member 9%" AIR. I hadn't completed Mission 1. (Heck, I hadn't flow into Terra HQ at that time).
I think that it shows up like any other race ranking... the first time you enter a Goner sector or see a Goner ship.
Most people's Goner rankings just aren't going to go up very often. You only buy Salvage Insurace (not needed unless you spend ours away from NPC stations), Transporters, and Jump Drives from them. And if you don't dock at the station often, you don't check their boards, do you?
I put a jump drive into all my ships that can hold one. And I put transporters on all my ships, period. I didn't start out that way. I used to put transporters only on "Personal" ships. But these days, I just find it easier to give it to a ship that might never need either then need it and have to run stuff around to get it. So I do a lot of business with the Goners. And my rank goes up accordingly. But the higher that rank, the slower it goes up...

Kipper: I agree there 6% and 22% at preacher are the only 2 ranks ive finished at with Gonar and once ive reached one of them its stayed set in stone for the rest of the game.
Here is a question for you.
Have you seen your gonar ranks go up by one rank at a time or did they make a big jump to preacher like they did in my game ?
Also once at preacher, how many salvage insurance or jump drives have you brought and have you seen it move even 1% when you did ?
I certainly have seen no increase due to buying stuff from the gonar temple and since my fleet in my old save game (9 months of playing) all had jump drives and since I used to buy salvage insurance 100 at a time Id expect to have seen it move slightly at some point.
So my bet goes with the gonar rank being linked to the campaign not sales.

I was playing around with some restarts and payed attention to when the Goner stuff first showed up.
The first time I saw a Goner ship, Goner ranking showed up. It was Goner Accepted Member 0%. Buying a transporter from the Goner, and it increased quite a lot.
So, plot may grant you some bonuses to your Goner rank, but it does behave like any race relations.

I also am getting increases from buying items from the Goners. I haven't gone to their temple yet in the plotline this game (finished the second mission and then stole off on my own). I try to buy my jumpdrives from them EXCLUSIVELY so that I can recover the rep losses I get from capping their missionaries.
By the way, some of the best lines I have heard in game have come while talking to the goners:
"We came in peace, but you deal in... Spaceweed"

why dosent some one e-mail or ask a programmer who wrote the code for the goner? im shure they would tell its not like a big thing
also if it is broken maybe they dont know or bringing it to there attention will inspire them to do some thing more creative with it
oh and if there is a protecter of the goner status has any one reached it can you prove it how did you do it
and if its not poss to reach it whats the point of having it?
just my thoughts

Goner Rank
I don't participate in the plot. I bought this game to relive my misspent youth of playing Elite. My Goner rank appeared after blowing up some pirates in CBSW and is steadily climbing with my Argon rank. I spend most of my time capping pirates, and I employ 1 sector trader in Argon space. I figure his trading is raising my rank, even though I'm not trading with the Goners.

serious serious problem
I could use some help, and fast.
Finally got some nice ships, my M2, lots of fabs, etc. but i want to finish the plot again so i can buy the specs for the khaak, for the hell of it. but when i check my goner rank its at disloyal member 46%. ie im on the mission where you dock at the goner temple...and ive got docking denied, effectively halting the plot. how can you increase it enough to get on with the plot? if I cant sort this soon I'll have to try bullying them. I wonder if the goner temple respawns?

Well, looks like killing the temple doesn't work. much like the gates, it's immortal. take the hull to 0 and it keeps on living. they are more than determined, they are plain obsessed

hmmm
well if the plot is the only way to make it go up...and i cant do the plot unless i can get it up...then what. I have absolutely no intention of restarting again just because some goner thinks he's better than me. I'll wipe them out first lol
