There are only options to buy the base game AND Timelines (called Discovery Pack), the Community of Planets Edition or the Community of Planets Collector's Edition. And all the DLCs and sountracks separately. But there is no option to buy the base game without any DLC.

This is on both, Steam and GOG.
That's correct. For new players, the Discovery Pack is the new "base game" equivalent. Note that the Discovery Pack is currently on sale on both platforms. :)

I absolutely love it. The sheer experience of getting thrown into these scenarios is quite thrilling. The sound department is a huge step forward, especially when it comes to dialogues.

And probably what I never expected is to hear one of the X:Rebirth highway tracks in X4 which to me was an extremely pleasant surprise.

Congrats Egosoft :x4:

No new main menu screen and music for Timelines? or is it some kind of bug?

Did you see it in the options menu where you can select the starting screen from any of the dlc or main intro screen? As you might have it forced on a particular one from before.

@Skeeter

Yeah, that might be it - I never touched that setting (but had the beta installed). So it was set to "Default" for me - changing it to "Timelines" lets me enjoy the new background and the new music :)

For GoG client, it will DL twice, Once for the update, then the Actual Dlc, it seems to have all installed correctly and overall, I like the new "Mist Glow" effects on icons and names, bit confused by timelines, but gave it a go. interesting.
May we please have Shift + 1 and Map functionality back? timelines has disabled mine. I started a fresh new game just to check and stuff just randomly does not work, despite going into settings to make sure the keys are setup and so on.

Fixed : everyone, clean out your extentions folder in your game folder, not the random one I copied to the egosoft folder by mistake and linked.

(then add some back in until it breaks ; ) )

Changing it to Timelines, then apply, then back to Default seems to have fixed "Default" for me (I think default should be basically always the latest DLC).

Those do not exist. "Only" a few ships got new E versions.

Hey Egosoft Team,

Can we please take a look at the
Spoiler

"Elite Sport"
ship that comes from the DLC. It has something called a

"Racing Engine"
which has a top speed of 630 m/s as its "Travel Drive". It kinda makes it entirely useless for any real sense of use in the open world.

I'm not quite sure what you're expecting us to look at here. It's a racing ship; that's its purpose. Like a racing car, anything unnecessary has been removed to make it as good as it possibly can be at the thing it's supposed to be good at. Yes, that limits its usefulness in other environments. Some people will enjoy flying a racing ship "just for fun", just as they might enjoy driving a highly impractical sports car, while others may simply treat it as a "trophy". :)

I recall there was one racing mission in X4 open world, in Tides of Avarice I think (casino blueprint mission?).

Have you considered/balanced the new racing stats ships for that mission?

I recall many newbie players hd issues finding proper ship for that race mission, so those racer ships would be no brainer solution for this.

Apologies, I should have been more specific. When flying it around the open world it has a max speed of getting to anywhere of 630 m/s. Without a travel drive, moving it anywhere to enjoy flying it takes a very long time. Its non travel drive speed is the same speed at 630 m/s. If its a racing car should it not have a very fast travel drive and therefore increase its value and the desire to 'take it for a spin'. Using that logic if it was faster than your average scout ship then it would feel rewarding to actually utilise it. At the moment it just feels like a ship that has a max speed of 630 m/s in all situations and I may as well just fly a scout ship.

Hey Egosoft - question about GUI glow option - why it's locked behind custom graphic settings and not free to be modified at any graphic setting?

Seems like an odd choice for non-performance and purely cosmetic setting.

Same here no map is displayed, settings seem to be OK. With no mods and fresh game still the same issue.

I don't fully understand what problem you're having from your brief description. If you're having problems with the controls or the map, or anything else, then please go to the Tech Support forum, read the very first sticky thread at the top of the forum, and then start a new thread of your own which includes the information requested in that sticky thread. The announcement thread for the release is not the place to report issues. :)

I fixed mine by cleaning my extentions folder of non-Egosoft cruft, restarting, there, fixed, then slowly add a couple of extentions at a time, also, yeah, wrong place to talk about it, but overall, a fantastic update and an interesting DLC.

Unfortunately, you can't restart the client in cloud gaming options without ending the VM session; meaning it is impossible to play Timelines DLC in GeForce Now at this time.
GeForce Now is another environment that we have very little control over. You can't play Public Beta versions there, probably for very similar reasons. However in the case of an update like this, it's probably just a case of waiting until their server images have caught up with the new version.
You may not have control over the environment, but you can adjust the code of the engine to ensure the game engine isn't launched while Egosoft extensions are still being downloaded and installed. If you can do this for steam workshop extensions and the previous extensions, surely you can configure this for Timelines DLC, too.

Ouch - looks like Timelines reviews on Steam are 44%

As sandbox player I understand people dissapointment and confusion, however, as I play I warm up to Timelines (but will review it when I finish it) from negative approach to mixed up. Hopefully it end up positive when I finish it.

For now I see following issues that drag Timelines down:
- it wasn't a smart idead to put racing content upfront and made it like 30% of all sandbox ships - racing in X-series is controversial at best, dreadful at worst :(
- not all Timelines missions grant rewards to sandbox (dissapointment for Open World players)
- not all new ships are usable in Open World (e.g. Split Colony Ship would be good megafreighter/passenger ship, both Xenon and Khaak M0 could be their own endgame crysis, increasing number of crysis to 3)

Bugs and crashes:
- in Split Colony Ship mission, if you respawn on the Colony Ship when it explodes, it crashes the game GUI, making you unable to exit the mission.
- two racing missions have Incorrect reward ship placement:
One Timeline missions tells that reward ship has been deployed in Freedom's Reach, but it was in fact deployed in Moo-Kye's Revenge.
I thinks Moo-Kye's Revenge ship reward deployment is the same - it's actually deployed in Freedom's Reach.

On a positive note - all combat missions and new combat ships are sweet!
