Actually, I should not say this, but whatever Egosoft will release I will buy it anyway with my eyes closed... even if this will be Horse Armour

You might say it is a little bit naive, but I do not recall regretting it. Maybe Rebirth... but still there would be no X4 without Rebirth and its engine.

Well, I have to say an apparent pivot away from the core gameplay they've had basically forever wasn't what I thought would come as an expansion. Or at all really. Mostly I'm just confused where the desire to do that even comes from.

Ok, so different short scenarios and a separate story for a protagonist called Harper Donel. You can unlock some ships for the sandbox mode, if you play those short scenarios. Some of those have highlights of old X games: the Terran ship from X-BtF, when you make your first jump into the X-Universe. The CPU ship is also there, the Xenon mothership as well. And the X-perimental of course, plus some others.

New ships are always welcome, and they really look well done.

But I take it that there's no new story module for the sandbox mode? No new sectors? That would be a tad bit less exciting than I had hoped for, if I may be honest.

Judging by the youtube video most likely you'd get opportunity to participate in events listed in timeline in encyclopedia. And probably get some unique ships which you won't be able to build. And there will be a maze mission.

The fun thing is "wishlist now", except it is not on steam as far as I can tell.

I did like Bernd's Schoffel coat,,, Cool green , although the correct terminology today is "sick" ... So Bernd's Schoffel was sick .... Nice one....To be really cool then drip is the new new terminology .... So Bernd's Scoffel was "drip" or "drippy" .
