Have to move on, but a last update.

Confirmed that ships can erroneously see things in other sectors if the ship just changed sectors. This is to be expected at the moment and should be handled in scripts. Handling is now done and checked in. A fix for the detection itself is in the works, but since it's a situation that can be handled in scripts, priority isn't very high.

Also found yet another cause of ships leaving their stations to chase targets outside their engagement areas. This has also been fixed.

Needless to say, fixes for both should be in future updates. Can't tell you which ones since i don't know myself, but i have entered entries in the changelogs for the relevant fixes.

@radcapricorn, it is possible that it is related, but haven't established with certainty.

For some reason some of the ships which have been assigned to defend a Pheonix Sentinel which itself is assigned to a protect postion in Bright Promise keep being given a Protect Position Assignment in Ianamus Zura IV by the gate...In the end I have stopped trying to change/delete/reassign and decided to post more ships in that postion to see what happens...but it looks like the game itself is trying to usurp those ships for its own purpose and overiding their commands
I have a wing (Colossus as Wing leader, 5 Behemoths and fighters) set to defend position in Hewa's Twin II. For some reason the Behemoths are constantly acquiring a protect position command in Company Regard and all five fly to this new position.
They also try to commit suicide by attacking the Xenon Shipyard in Scaleplate Green even though this sector is blacklisted.

Maybe it gives another hint to find this bug. Most of the times if not all off them, currently in 2.5, the ships, which chase enemies to another sector are subordinates, not the ones which have order to patrol.
Another thing is that when it's happening chasing ship have TWO attack orders in its commands.
Lastly, block lists can't stop them from doing this.
