From a USAF paper on continuous wave lasers: "To destroy soft targets (human flesh, fabrics, plastics, etc…) approximately 1000 Joules per square centimeter are required. Extremely hard targets such as tanks might require 100,000 Joules per square centimeter"
So 0.1MJ laser is a tank killer. Smallest shield is 745MJ. Depending on how that energy is laid down, I say this is plausible
