good answer but not what I had in mind. The building is a cube.

In fact thinking about what I posted a minute ago. Saying the walls are solid is misleading. The walls are of a solid material. Hopefully this will point you in the right direction.

And we have a winner. I'll try and think of more later but I've got to leave work now

There's usually more than one answer to these questions. The dead man was about to take a parachute jump when he had a heart attack, collapsed and fell out of the plane. The heart attack may well have 'killed' him before he landed but to the casual observer it looks the same.

Here's another one for you;

A man gets up in the morning and is about to leave his home when he realises that a tree has fallen and blocked off the only entrance/exit. He can't get the tree out of the way and there are no other exits, yet he still gets out without any help. How?

(might not be perfect, I just made it up. Inspired by Al's question)

He either waits for the snow to melt or uses the back door :)

Not quite what I had in mind. I've changed it slightly to remove these possibilities (but not the one I'm thinking of). :?

Who mentioned a door?

I like your thinking though, even if it is miles away from mine. :)

Not what I had in mind but it would probably work in this case. You're still missing the key point though, any ideas what that is?

Mmmmm, tricky.

The tree is accross the entrance, so perhaps the tree is small enough that he can step over it or climb through it to get out.

Rapier, if you hadn't specified "entrance/exit" I would have said that he exited via the entrance.

hi Al I thought of an answer after it was solved .
here goes
He waited until the sun came up and melted the walls.
they were made if ice.

Not quite the right answer to Al's problem, but it is the answer to mine. :D I was thinking along the same lines so I came up with my poser.

Your turn again. :)
