Thanks to all involved in finding this. I'll take a closer look at the best way to properly solve it. As it has been pointed out, the Xenon are the only ones in modulesets.xml with specific defence station macros defined. It wasn't always this way but it was changed for other reasons. Obviously it had some unintended side-effects.

As this will require quite a bit of testing to be sure that the factions behave themselves, I don't expect this to make it into the next patch seeing as that is probably focusing on more immediate issues.

Ikzorn101, you are awesome! I can't try the mod because I don't want to "modify" my game but thanks for getting that out for everyone. Hopefully this whole post saves the Dev's some precious time! 8)

Nice job on this mod, I would hope this is a more immediate issue that could be squeezed in on a beta patch so ''we'' can test it out and see how the factions behave. I have no intrest in modding my game as of yet, not for a while.

Not sure Egosoft is checking the mod thread, so I figured I'd post the known issues here for visibility. Short version: They were right to not try to do this for 1.51

1) When the AI puts a defence station in enemy territory, the Build Storage is owned by the sector owner (this is always the case for all stations for some reason) which means that only the enemy can (and does) build the station. Of course, once the turrets become operational, the construction vessel and any supplying traders get obliterated.
2) The AI fight ships don't seem to attack defence stations properly. They correctly destroy the administrative center and then keep attacking that part forever even though it can't take any more damage. This happens even OOS. So the station will never get destroyed. It's possible this only happens if the station gets attacked while under construction, not 100% sure.
3) The AI won't consistently defend its new build site, so in some situations (e.g. Xenon sectors) it can be impossible for any ships to actually get there safely. But until at least one module is built, the enemy can't kill it, so it becomes a permanent empty build site. Ideally the defenders would do a better job, but there probably also needs to be an abort timeout to give up on trying to build there.
