Idk, maybe no one told them but fighters have engines as well, are more manuverable, faster, can defend themselves, etc. Why on earth would anyone use a carrier which cant do what carriers are supposed to do?
Making them faster wont make them useful. Allowing them to rearm and repair fighters will!
Another bizarre balancing decision, same with turret damage .. im like
Any word on why literally everything in the universe is a half modeled, mirrored asset? Whose bright idea was it to mirror about 90% of the assets in the game? Thats unheard of for game dev. Asteroids look ridiculous when they are mirrored.
From listening to everything that Bernd said, I now strongly believe even more that the Early Access route would be a very very good idea for them on the next game. Even just 3-4 months before the actual release date, get it into eager fan's hands and work out all of these bugs with some wider testing before release actually happens.

Fully agreed, in early access, I'd defend the launch of this game to hell and back. I'd even be willing to drop down extra money on in-game goodies such as having an NPC or station named after yourself or a similarly tiered adopter rewards other early access games have offered (i.e. Prison Architect). Early access is great for giving your hardcore fan base the option of supporting your studio as soon as possible in the development cycle while avoiding to leave more casual or consumer-conscious customer feel like they got burned by a buggy game release once again.
But releasing games in a problematic stage without any early access or beta label is just a bad business practice and anti-consumer. Doesn't matter what studio you are, what your patching history is or how good or bad previous games were.
EGOSOFT has been doing Early access way before Early Acces was even a thing. Basically all X releases were EA including X4, they just don't use the label. Incomplete, buggy, missing half the features and mechanics, no plot, barely any variety, etc. And Bernd, again, said they are working on fixing things and adding a lot of stuff in 1.5-2.0 and lots of paid DLCs are coming with extra ships and whatnot. If this is not Early Access I don't know what is...
Putting a clear "Early Access" label on your software product in the stores you are selling it is being early access. Everything else is not.
Expecting your customers to be familiar with your product history is disingenuous and we don't apply the same standard to any other product.
If I return a hairdryer to the store because it only blows cold air without mentioning that on the package the clerk doesn't reply: "Didn't you know that Bingo Hairdryers never work? You gotta buy the heating extension to fix that!"
After the release of X:Rebirth Bernd said in an interview with the Gamestart magazin that they will do Early Access next time.... yeah....
Maybe someone should told him what Early Access is xD [Sarcasm off]

This is why i rarely read positive reviews in games, especially those made for the sole purpose to offset the balance of reviews. I never bother to read them.
I am the same. I don`t read reviews that are made just to fight other reviews of the same game. I also hate it when someone writes, "I`m writing this review against the other guy who wrote his negative review!"
Just tell what`s the game like! I don`t need the personal angst routine of some of these guys. I`ll judge from my own research what`s what!
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

You know, i pay the same or even higher price for 20 hours game which I play once and i'm done.
You can talk about being incomplete (yeah, i can see where you coming from), or being small, or buggy.
But truth is a lot of players me included had fun for 10-20 hours with what already was in on release and I've already had like 50 hours of game play where I did have fun playing. Price per dolar of fun i had for me is great.
Sure some bugs where freaking irritating but there was always something else to do in meantime.
This is first X game for me, bought on release and with number of different activities I can do, I'm impressed. Both with how well it worked for me and the speed game was fixed. And how much fun i already had.

Yeah I have the same mindset.
I have games that I've played for a few hours that cost the same.
I've played for 66 hours so far, that works out at less than 70 pence per hour - that's what I would call cheap entertainment.
But I'd much rather it be 200 hours because they iron the kinks out. Then there really are no complaints from me.

Except I did write up a pretty sizeable review listing pros and cons i saw after ~10 hours of playing...

But will you update it after several patches and 100 hours of playing?
Proper Early Access, with healthy involvement with community would be glorious. It's so hard to do though... cant' let expectations run too wild, can't go with just 51% consensus (as some features liked by such slim majority would make the other half ragequit), can't implement every single little thing asked for, but then there is a case where different, small but numerous groups ask for features that have no overlap, but overall those groups combined make up a healthy chunk of players...
Balancing this is literal hell.
And communicating with players isn't Egosoft strongest side *cough* tutorials *cought*
