Wow we're all so incredibly lucky that you created your account today just to post that, without your superior insight we'd all have had such a headache on Friday, caused by our own incompetence at not being able to make our own purchasing decisions... THANKS!

I'd say ignore this thread. The OP started this thread in 5 min after joining this forum and leaves.

Let's not turn this into a thread full of personal attacks please. The whole "troll" vs "fanboy" thing isn't welcome on this forum, as you all know.

ZombiePotatoSalad wrote: Tue, 27. Nov 18, 05:12 That's... a rather harsh thing to say. Yes, it will have bugs, but I don't think it will be so broken as to be unplayable.

I preordered October 1st, and I will stick with this game, bugs or no bugs. Bugs get fixed in time. Just like people advocating patience before its release, you should also show patience after release, as Egosoft works to fix the problems that arise.
I did the same as ZombiePotatoSalad, will not get a refund and will wait if there are any bugs that we all know we will find. I have ALL x games and plenty of hrs of enjoyment, but thanks for the warning and welcome to the forums.. First post .... nice.

Issues are likely, as with most day 1 releases, but I wouldn't say it will be 'busted'. Hopefully not as bad as Rebirth but we'll have to wait and see.

That's a interesting expression. We have another one: "lightning never strikes the same place twice." The first time, they were working with a completely new engine. Now, they have the benefit of experience, both with the engine, and lessons learned with X Rebirth.

Sorry for myself and my words.

I wont attack anybody personally nor want to discuss based on fanboy vs. trollboy vs. realboy (hihi :D ) based layer.
I just want to say its too early to say something about the game.

Its better i leave this (imho) irrationally discussion thread for now, too.

To be honestly to you , i do not care if there will be bugs from the begining. This studio is one of the hardcore space-sim game developer trying all the time create and improve games for this comunity. So for me thats means i will pre-order the game to support this team and show them ... please continue to do this job in future.

This time I did not pre-order, in fact X Rebirth was the last game I ever pre-ordered.

But after being a big fan of Egosoft since X BtF, I really really hope that we will have a succsesor to X3 after some time of prolonged "post-development", if reviews and everything looks promising, I might even get the collectors edition in good hope for the future.

If not, well there are a lot of competitors out there that produce nice space games, nothing like X, but still.

Lack of faith I find a bit disheartening.

I think the game will be better then it has in a very long time.

- Third iteration of the engine. XR, XRVR,X4
- More transparency in my books
- Devs seem to have 2 people at least hammering out bugs full time from what we seen transparent wise talked about on Discord / Reddit.
- The developers are self publishing meaning their not strong armed to release when they are told to.

In my books the only thing that I seen go bad is us the people. Imagine working hard sweat and blood for this new title and reading your own forums and always seeing so many negative posts not enough encouraging ones.

IF your try at prophesying is wrong, will you post an apology to the developers? Made you could tell then, you had no proof the game was broken but you did had an axe to grind. Grind away you only have a couple of days left until we all have the facts.

I haven't found these games to be any buggier than anyone else's. One painful crash in X2, one plot-breaking bug involving #deca in TC, but otherwise, reasonably solid. For me, XR performed fine (aside from being a little wonky with the controls), it just wasn't fun, which was a whole other mess, and much harder to fix with some patches (though some stuff like changing the highway minigame seemed so simple and obvious you wonder why they didn't do it much sooner).

In any event, it's entirely fair to hold off on pre-ordering, but I also don't think there's any reason to assume that the game will be an unplayable mess at launch.

You must of got it late as the Storyline was pretty much broken until late January, first the infamous 100 Energy Cell bug where your ship wouldn't sell them to the lonely giant hydrogen facility and after that you couldn't reach Omicron Lyrae, the pathing for ships entering jumpgates between Albion and DeVries was broken; you couldn't complete the URV Station Build Mission, they had to add the materials you needed as it was almost impossible to complete.
Like I said it took till the end of January before the game was completable without editing the savefile.

And egosoft is one of the very single devoloper studios who extend fix and devolop a game long time after the release.

Goto EA and tell them they should fix SimCity or fix Soundbugs or activision creating a game which is not "Call of duty" with copied animations, textures, weapons, stories.
They dont fix old games, but shut down servers and sue people and player who rewrite the server code or mods to make old games playable.
Edit: call of duty is not EA, my fault.

If you were a devoloper, you would know how hard it is, especially in a small team.
Even Creative Assembly are starting to see the benefits of long term game patching. Good PR to do that, ensure that you're trustworthy and they will come back and they will spread the word.
It only takes one X:Rebirth release to ruin years of hard earned trust.

I preorder it.

Kinda know where it's going, i'll give it 2 month.
I just hope it will be more fun that X rebirth, because I tried to play it and droped it very fast as it was just not the experience I was used to in last X.
The hopeless grinding untill you start building your first trade convoy and then the more grid until you could get a M3 then the start setting sector trader and then your fisrt station. first loop then Avarice then the hub and so on...

X rebirth made it boring....

i preorder it, sadly i did it using steam instead of buying it directly from egosoft. (my bad) .

they DESERVE any help we can provide . and pre ordering it, also net you a discount. its only 3 days and you can still get the discount if bought before the 30th.

so my 2 cents : if you are a fan for the X games there is no excuse to not preorder it . :) if you are not the hardcore fan, just a casual player who likes to fly a ship , then wait and pay full price :) choice is yours :)

I wouldn't be too optimistic.... Will see in 3 days (hope for the best and expect worse) ;)
- Third iteration of the engine. XR, XRVR,X4
Ego created their own engine so they are building on it. Usually when you buy engine they come somewhat with pre made features so developers don't need to put much work for them. Point is there is many things that can go wrong with new features especially when they need to build them from ground up.... This is reason why XR was buggy on a first place.
- More transparency in my books
Status of alpha yes but status of beta and near finished product we have nothing. We still don't know how space walking or hq will work (for example). So there is not much transparency now.
- The developers are self publishing meaning their not strong armed to release when they are told to.
This was case from the beginning if I remember correctly.... All of the games are self funded so publishers don't have much saying to it (this is double edge sword). For example they used money made from X3 to build and finish XR bypassing publishers. Problem with that is that they didn't have enough money (just my assumption) to keep XR in house and they had to release it, My only argument was that it should have been in early access... There was even cases where they finished game and than they wore looking for publishers ;) I could be wrong but they use publisher as distributions of CD copies and they don't need to use them anymore because of online services like Steam or GOG.
In my books the only thing that I seen go bad is us the people. Imagine working hard sweat and blood for this new title and reading your own forums and always seeing so many negative posts not enough encouraging ones.

Welcome to real world ;) People don't care about your efforts but only your product/results .... Market is unforgivable place.

Yes. Thats cause i would say, move the release to another date if its not ready to be released yet. That would cause much less damage as a failed release like XRebirth. So i cant understand why they decided to do that. Maybe its caused by the problem - like at XRebirth - that we are in christmas time. Many people buy christmas presents, so it may be a economical fault to not release...
But, who buys a digital version of a game for his partner or children?
