Depends on the target - tried that with an Olmekron a few days ago & it didn't exactly work all that well. Damn thing's got almost 100 guns on it, which made for a very pretty lightshow as it slaughtered my marines. A few of my marines did somehow manage to survive the trip (frankly I was quite amazed considering the efficient job it did on the rest), but unfortunately it was only a handful of them & not nearly enough to capture the target.

Keep in mind also, if you use elites you don't need a cloud of pods. I use 20 elites (10 pods) and even that is overkill considering how fast ships surrender to me. 3-4 min maybe. Occasional losses (1-2 pods).

Boarding is easy IF you plan:

Here's what I do, and I have never failed getting a ship if I wanted it.


1. Taking out the engines + turrets with novadrones
2. Hide behind engines.
3. Jump into the traitor drone.
4. Drop lolpods all around the ships turrets.
5. Press r
6. Ship is defenceless, start boarding.

The only way to make it easier than it is now, is to make the whole boarding sequence a quicktimeevent consisting of pressing A on the X-box controller.

I hope to higher powers that Egosoft does not facilitate to the lowest common denominator in the boarding aspect.

Boarding is perhaps the only real THINK aspect in the game we have atm.
Sure glad I didn't purchase a new computer this release.

I have 1,700+ hours playing time so I know how to board. What I don't like is when taking a Cartel Boss mission they send you to a different zone up 5 or 6 zones away and by the time you get there it is already engaged with a station or warship and half destroyed before I can even fire a shot :headbang: They took away hacking of ship to shut down weapons fine I can live with that. Now you have to travel across the sector to get to your mission objective, I want it like it was mission is in the zone you acepted it in. At least then I would have a chance to even launch my marines before the ship is destroyed by a station or other ship :!:

Mine the station turrets as well and blow them up to keep the ship alive for your boarding.
