Uhm, steam 1.0.0.0 looks strange, is it the file version or the product version ?
First try to compare the steam api version.

If this don't help, maybe you can create a new partition and installing a fresh OS on it, only with updates, drivers, steam and xrebirth. so you can get sure thats not a hardware or driver problem.

I'm back again. Hmm, talking of refunds or OS reinstalls already? That's not necessary yet! I still don't see anything here that causes me to suspect a game code issue (the many, many users without starting issues prove that) - I would say that either the Steam/game installation is suspect or your system and set-up has something unusual that is interfering.
You still have not actually confirmed to me that you have verified the game cache or that you manually deleted the Rebirth gamefolder before reinstalling. This is important for ruling out installation issues.
@ DMI-1407: Yes I had already linked that thread and the OP says he has checked it. I do agree that the OP's Steam version is probably out of date as my Steam.exe is shown as product version 1.0.0.1. My Steam.exe file version is 2.25.32.45. That perhaps needs further investigation by the OP, I think.

Hey thanks for getting back to me. Yes, the cache has been verified. and yes I have manually deleted the game folder. If it was a steam installation issues, how can I still play X:TC like a champ? Has any looked at those dump files yet? I'd bet that whatever is causing this is in there. Is there any way for me to get in there and look at them?

Ok. So... after all this.... it appeared to be that the Steam.exe file in the directory was indeed v1.00.00.01. I re-downloaded the installer.exe from steam website and it re installed the V2 exe. AND IT WORKED..... Game started. I'm going to play and I will get back to you if any new bugs are found. Thanks a million for all the help! I hope this helps others!
