Just a recommendation/request, could you possibly put a black background behind each of the displays? It sounds a bit weird, but I was in DeVries and I couldn't see what I was selecting because of how bright the sector is in general.

Thank you, this brings forth the time that I feel, I can buy this game; the stupid cockpit broke the game for me. Thank you again.
( Now any chance you can come up with a mod to remove any silly " foggy " effects? assuming they are in this game too...

are these graphics:

I suspect
cp1_window_diff.dds and/or cp1_window_diff-small.dds.
to be the "diffuse" scanner graphics. Going to mess around with them and see... =)

The cp1_window textures are used for the glass pannel of the cockpit, the scanner graphics aren't textures, but a shader ("shaderfx\high\XU_tinted_glass.fx") applied to the "playership_overlay".98abaile wrote:Oh god yes, if you can get rid of the scan lines in station scanning I will love you forever.Gazz wrote:FYI:

I have been able to neutralize both the scanner color effect AND the scan lines effect(wich is using a different method). I will soon make an update for this, along with the HUD only cockpit.
I will explain in details how it works later.
EDIT: New version available now with the fix. New cockpit will be release tomorrow.

While I'm glad with mods like these people get to play the way they play. But didn't the community just get over harping on bringing Cockpits back?? that the whole feel of the HUD in X3 and it's expansions, people kept saying "Bring Cockpits back, Bring Cockpits back."
I like the feel of "being in" the ship, so I'm glad cockpits are back. But I just find it ironic that it seems like you can't make the community happy.

I liked the modded cockpits in X3R, and TC, but then.. I had so many to choose from and could also look left, right, up, down and any combo of these. Also the FOV wasn't 60..

I believe it has more to do with the 'look and feel' of the cockpit than with the actual fact of having a cockpit or not. Since this is not in the game, i suggest to add it in this mod

Anyway, I removed all visible screens, but the interesting informations like ship status are still there.
Yes it is possible to move stuff around, and I can probably move Yisha to the drone bay, but then animations would be broken, we will have floatings parts everywhere...
It's been less than a week, this mod (I should probably rename it) is a temporary workaround for the lack of no-cockpit/external view, while we wait for 3D plugins to actually make new cockpits, and LUA editors to add a real no-cockpit/external view.

Mind, I'd actually be very positive about a cockpit. One that was well designed, looked functional, had sensible HUD elements and didn't block a major part of the view. One that doesn't arrest my neck with a brace once I sit down in the chair and thus has decent situational awareness given you can look to the sides and some degree of up/down. This -thing- that shipped with Rebirth does barely even deserve the moniker 'cockpit'.
