I disabled screen scaling in the nvidia control panel. I set the scaling to display rather than GPU and then selected 'no scaling'. Suddenly X Rebirth lists all the normal resolutions including 1920x1080 and none of the insane resolutions from before.

An odd bug but easy enough to work around when you know what to change I suppose.
Since I am running an AMD card, that solution isn't quite right for me. But it did give me the necessary hint to solve my problem.

With an AMD card, you simply go to "My Digital Flat Panels/Properties" in Catalyst. Under Image Scaling, enable the "GPU scaling" option.

I can run at 1920x1080 and there are no options for screwy resolutions.

Awesome =) I'm glad I could help both of you. It's a shame this niggly little bug was affecting people but hopefully now we know how to work around it, most people will be able to find the info.

Unfortunately this did not work for me,
I'm using a GTX670 with a samsung LA46A650AIF TV through a HDMI Cable.
Latest Nvidia drivers on the card and latest firmware on the TV.

I've tried all combinations of scaling and size options in the nvidia CP. Along with the 320.49 and 331.65 Drivers.

Tried to create a custom rez but the control panel does not allow duplicates.

Any help would be much appreciated. But looks like im going to be waiting for the next driver update and hope that fixes it.

The enabling gpu scaling has worked here but its more a temp work around than a solution to the bug.

Enabling gpu scaling makes everything on my screen a bit blurry like ClearType is set wrong.

I'm not convinced this is a driver bug. No game I've played in recent times has shown any evidence of this bug except for X Rebirth.

That doesn't seem like it's the correct thing. GPU scaling would make it 'fit' the screen despite the lower resolution, hence the blurriness. In my case *disabling* the scaling made X Rebirth allow a genuine 1920x1080 resolution.
