I wouldn't think so, I was having this issue before adding more ram.Nanook wrote:One other thing I noticed. In the memory section, it shows two different speed RAM chips, two at 1600 MHz and two at 1333 MHz. It's just possible you have a timing issue caused by either incompatible RAM, or more likely, a setting in the BIOS. The different chips may require different BIOS settings, and if not set properly, can cause these kinds of issues. I ran into a similar issue back when I built my current machine. I ended up having to replace the slower chips. You might try removing the slower chips and see what happens.

Then perhaps the old RAM has problems. Try removing the older chips and leave the newer ones in. Or perhaps the timing settings in BIOS weren't quite right for the older chips. It's worth a try if you haven't done this already.

I will see what Acer say first before messing with that kind of stuff myself. After the last attempt to update the BIOS i'm a little weary.Nanook wrote:Then perhaps the old RAM has problems. Well Acer suggested I preform a stress test, which I did and it passed without any issues. They also suggested I re-install the operating system do a clean start..... yeah no thanks took me months to get the system set up just the way I like it, I really don't feel the need to start over again. Guess that's it just going to have to try play the game the way it play's untill rebirth comes out and hope I have no issues with that.

That's pretty poor to be honest. This is a known issue with the generation of CPUs that you have, and something that has been fixed by numerous motherboard vendors with BIOS updates. They should be aware of this, and not fobbing you off with standard scripted answers. In your position I'd be getting back to them and being a bit more demanding rather than just shrugging my shoulders and hoping for the best, but maybe that's just me.

We shall see what happens, I'm hoping if I be less confrontational that they will be more inclined to help..... having spent along time in customer service industry I know what it is like to be assailed by customers. And in this case I have modified the machine by adding ram updating the OS to windows 8 adding a new hard drive so it is out of warranty to be sure.CBJ wrote:That's pretty poor to be honest. Seriously, just remove one of the sets of chips and then the other to see if there's a problem with memory. Computers often don't like having chips with different speeds. That should be an easy and non-disruptive thing to do. You don't have to mess with the BIOS to do that. If that doesn't help, at least you can rule out memory as an issue.
