thanks for the reply Bernd.

another question though:
does that mean that i have to set the version number for TShips to an odd number (ie 13), remove the gun data, and add my new ship (and then start the game, and rely on X2 engine to put back the gun data), if i want to add a completely new ship ?

no - the very first line of the file is '14;114;'

the 14 is the version number, the 114 is the number of entries in the file.
(14 means that is has been extended, by adding the gun information)

Thanks Bernd.

As soon as there are details about the exporter we can report the data over at the milkshape and other forums and hopefully the community will produce the nessessary plugins.

The 940 entry is a sort of invisible "Point of View". If adjusting its coordinates in the 3D files you can shift yourself (your PoV) forward, backward, up or down inside or even to extremes outside the cockpit.

It needs to be adjusted if one places him/herself in a new ship to get the PoV from the cockpit right. Especial in large capital ships.

pov couple of Q`s for capital ships

Post by handzon »

1. hi there CJ ,from what you are saying. would it be possible to be down on the lower deck of the forward bridge within the capital ships, i ask this as due to an glitch i encounted back in aus ver 1. where i got stuck in the drawn out view when boosting not that i minded as it gave the impression of being on an bridge in this huge 200 or so ft. forward command station. and i could pov around to the 180 dgr. mark and given the focal length could then see the full port/starb side vice/verso; stairs included :-). an bit like the adjustable pov in the cfs series. but not able to go forward cept for zoom.
2. given the above if poss/not. could this then be achieved thru placing an additional cockpit .my idea on possible way to do this was to use the titan config with the front turrent type changed to capship cockpit view, with camera moved to lower deck 2 or so mtrs behind and to the 45 dgr above the video/navcon display counter as an standard view option, implemented under the normal f1 view tab.

3.can we instead disable the auto centering camera movement for cockpit pov  to one like the turrets, ie so we can zoom down to the front vid display and simply be able to watch something fly by station or ship ,without the bloody camera centering the moment you let off the zoom button, surely you your self have had times when you wanted to watch the sector traffic without having to go into an turret or turn on an monitor. " this would suffice for the additional cockpit idea as pre mentioned.

4. i would greatly appreciate yours and any others opinon on these ideas as i will post this on the dev forum to see what the all knowing ones can come up with. cheers matey.

You can place your Point of View in the 940 data in the new ship's bod file anywhere you want to. Which can be seen in your 180 degree look on your num pad and which one has to adjust in any case for one's new capital ship.

Re your cockpit view as a turret view, I guess one would need to exchange or rename their bod.bob files (cockpit/turret) or to a new number and use this in your new creation's bod data. I have not tried this as yet, perhaps there is a problem using a turret view as you probably can not steer your ship as you would only swivel the view out the turret with your mouse instead. Which might change also the F1 order of the cockpit and turrets.

In the TShip files you would find and exchange the cockpit/turret IDs.

Re 3, why not shift a turret to there where your cockpit normally is, perhaps a little lower or higher so it does not obstract your cockpit and use its turret view there instead to do as you want it to do? Just an idea

Cheers
