as stated I have done everything I can think of to remedy the problem, I even took my comp to a technician to see what the fault could be. I have no more answers to give. it's all there, was hoping there would be some remedy to the problem, but clearly there isn't I don't know what other information I can provide to help fix it, not just for me but for others who might experience the same or similar problem.

Thanks for trying and sorry I cannot be more help. The best we can hope for now is that someone else running X3 on Win8 and an apu will come here and share their experiences. To be honest, I am hoping that yet another apu BIOS release may help (with Win8?) as your issue sounds exactly like the original apu BIOS issue in terms of symptoms and error reports.

If by that you mean it crashes with X3AP and not with X3TC then that is the first time you have said that and it would change the situation somewhat and point to an X3AP game installation problem. Also, with hindsight, I do not see anywhere in this thread where you say that you have actually used the Steam verify gamefiles cache tool for X3AP and X3TC separately to verify the game installation.

Sounds like you're down to the process of elimination. If you have a spare hard drive, try swapping out and installing Windows 7 to see if you get different behavior. X3:TC and AP run 100% fine for me in Win 8, but 8 is absolutely crawling with compatibility issues in general.
Also (and slightly off topic), ask yourself what you gain by running Win 8 as opposed to Win 7. I've personally decided to go back to Windows 7.
