True on both. When you decide doing Terran plot, put few millions on side then scout any available Terran sector and put rapier at each factory. Actually you can't safely enter Terran space until you take that first escort mission to Heretic's End. You'll have something like 15 seconds to turn around and exit. Then you have to complete the next mission in the plot to gain more access.
As far as saving the Terran economy, parking an M5 on stations you want to keep around doesn't really cut it, in my opinion. Instead I put ST/LT traders to work. Resources are provided. Products are bought. Trade ranks and Race rep increase. Profits are made. I figure in doing this, if there is a shortfall of resources, the GoD is more likely to place a station providing that resource rather than removing a station that requires it.
