Just wondering, do you know why pirate stations instantly turn red when one of my stray shots hit them?
I fly an OWP. What about you?

Not sure about that one. Seems as though I remember reading about that issue being addressed regarding the normal races (ie Argon, Boron Teladie, etc.). Maybe the pirates weren't addressed in that, could be that playing as a pirate was never considered. Which could explain some of the "oddities", such as this, while playing a pirate style of game play. But, that is just a guess.

And (yes another question :oops: )...

Is there a way to have the undercover pirates show their pirate cover when they enter player scanner range? Too often do I shoot the odd courier/transporter and realize their pirate but they haven't engaged their cover until I scan them.

EDIT: Is it possible to make stations/mines in pirate sectors...pirate owned? It seems weird that the pirates would allow hostile stations in their sectors...

First question, my best guess would be no, just like in real life the cops (or you) don't have a clue who is a smuggler/pirate and who is just an ordinary citizen. At least not with out doing and investigation (or, in this case using a scanner). Of course, if they are a member of your pirate clan then you should know them. But, rival clans are just like rival gangs, one may not know the other until it's too late.

Second question, I would assume so, that's kinda what Serial Kicked's Pirate Guild script package is about (plus a lot more). Though it might be more of an under taking than what this mod is intended to do.

pirate captain start is really anoying

if you are not in gaias something and got at least one more ship that belongs to you in space u get ganked by terrans :P
i just tried to "give " them one ship in a ****** sector i wont visit in 100h again but they keep spwning , and following me, like i MUST destroy them, but i wont bec my terran reputation is already ****** up :P

so pirate captain sucks.
o/ i would not wonder if they keep spawning on you because playership must be big horny stargate connected to sols bum *,*

I have been meaning to tone them all down a bit. Since time is in short supply, I haven't been able to do so. Hopefully, in the near future, I will be able to get to the changes.

On another note, if you are playing a Pirate Captain. You have had to climb up the pirate ranks just like everyone. So, to make Captain you would probably have made a few enemies along the way. More than likely, most races would probably hate you. Anyone's life in that role would not be an easy one. (But, those are just my thoughts!).

ye but its g-a-.y if a mjollnir spawns, start pwning a ship with 100 poltergeists. After 5 second there is spawning a terran m1 and like 10m3 5m4. When ur last owned ship (except urs) is destroyed they despawn, till u buy the next ship somewhere?

even pirate prowler or yaki grunt have this, thats absolute bull, whorst starts ever lol

if you want to play with terran ninja mjollnir with a magic stick porting his b00stickparty in your bum install them lul..

OK, I said I'll change it. I apologize for the irritation this has caused.
A new version will be out as soon as possible, hopefully before Friday of this week.

EDIT:
Changes have been made, you should be neutral to everyone now. With the Exception of the Yaki and the Pirates, which your are friends and/or allies with.

Note that I have not tested these changes. So please give feedback.


And please note that is is not everyday you get something this fast for free, and all you had to do was ask real nice like. :)

Well i had no problem with the bad standings you know, but the fact, a terran task force spawning on every ship of yours while in the sector with you was completly dumb ^^..

i will try the new starts if this is still happening,

SPK v1.30 will not remain installed with pluginmanager lite

Oops, I forgot to mention. I packaged that with the newest version of the Plugin Manager, the Beta version 1.3. So, if your using version 1.2 of the Plugin Manager, there may be issues.

I have created a new one using the older script packager, uploaded and labeled as such.

I'm not sure when I'll actually have time to test the new rank settings.
If they seem too easy, let me know. I can keep them neutral, but still subtract a little. That can kinda be a change and test, rinse and repeat kinda thing. Which takes time I currently do not have, but are changes I would like to make. The spawning of the ships is the game engine, which I did not intend to change (nor did change) with this mod. With the neutral settings, your basically free to do as you please. Become the 'Terror of the Universe' or the next 'Galactic Hero', your just starting with all the tools to be a proper Pirate. :D

Anyway, any feedback is a good thing, so.....

The mjolnir and terran fleet thing happens even without pirate starts. It happens with the Bankrupt Assassin start also if you use RRF.

: Choose the Bankrupt Assassin start (the Egosoft one) and either capture a ship or create one with Cycrow's cheats. Then you'll see the same thing even without Pirate Starts installed.

If anyone wants a harder start than starting at just neutral, then the older version is still available (which would be version 1.2).

This gives those who want an "easier" Pirate start the option of downloading the new version 1.3, so no big deal.

Thanks very much! This game needed some more good pirate starts. :)

So one question:
Is Version 1.2 and Version 1.3 the same, only with different difficulty settings?:?

That's correct.

In V1.3 all of the starts have you starting as neutral or better to the other races, excluding Khaak and Xenon of course. This doesn't mean that you will not see 'red' pirates though. There will always be those, just as there will always be rival gangs and such.

V1.2 has the original difficulty settings, and they are a little bit tougher start. But, you are playing a Pirate. And if you choose a higher level character to start with. Then wouldn't that Pirate/Yaki Captain maybe have made a few enemies to achieve that rank? These are more for the hardcore roll-player.

The links do work, some times mediafire just has a hic-up now and again.

Seems that is more the norm than the exception with them here of later. So, I will be taking mediafire out of the equation. I will upload them to the X3TC Google server sometime soonish (read 'next day or two'). When I have them there I'll update the links and post back confirming. My apologies for any inconvenience.

Does anybody know how to get this going in AP?

I installed via the Plugin Manager (beta for AP), but the starts are not showing up for me in game start menu.

Unfortunenatly I will not be able to get Ablion Prelude due to the Steam requirement. This is due to my only being able to get a dial-up internet connection. Once the DVD version is available, and providing it does not require Steam, then I will update this mod for AP.

Please note that, due to this situation, I have no problem with anyone copying, modifying, and/or changing this mod to work with AP.

As it currently stands I may never be able to update any of my mods for AP. I apoligize for any inconvience this may cause, but there is really nothing I can do to solve the problem.
