I had absolutely no intension to shut you up. The discussion and feedback is the main purpose of the thread :).

Hangars - I don't like them. I think small space "fighters" (all those M3,4,..) are unnecessary and unrealistic. So no hangars and fighters in my mod. If some modder likes hangars he will open them. I state again that this is not HW2 conversion, I will not preserve HW2 ship roles and some models will be edited.

M0 - what is so special to that AFAIK unsuppported class? If it's the size - I can surely make an M2 to be 10 or 20 km sized. So why M0?

I can put a superweapon on Sajuuk and make it much bigger then hiigarian mothership as it was in HW2. But I love that ship and want it to be the destroyer class ship. I want the ship to fly on and to fight a lot with and not a unique ship that just slowly floats around with doomsday weapon aboard. That's why an M2.

Remember that 3ds max screenshot on the previous page? This is the similar pic, now rendered by X3TC engine, the closeup zoomed from the discoverer + Sajuuk lights:

wow. Thats damn good man. you plan on improving the textures further by adding bump, normal maps and so forth?

Everything is already there - diffuse, normal, specular and light textures. You will never get that look with diffuse alone.

I really hope not. The sajuuk and mothership look too perfect!

KNT79: if this mod is no longer in development I ask, no BEG you to release what you have done so far, it would mean a lot to all the hw2 fans here :)

Now I know the OP said this would just be a ship mod and not a total conversion. But I must ask who here wants to see the X3TC sajuuk fire its phased cannon at some generic M2 and rip it apart like tinfoil?

That said I love the "silver" rendition of sajuuk shown in your previous pics, it is a lot more fitting to the X universe then the "sandy" sajuuk would have been. :wink:

after reading the rest of the post i'm a little pissed off that your not doing fighters,

but i urge you to reconsider closing the fighter bays, esspeically witth the mothership/flagship because otherwise ther's no real point to having a massive spaceship with barely enough weaponry to shoot down a few fighters...

even if you dont want to put the hangars in yourself, could you release the modells with the "open" fighterbays so someone eslse can put them on?

Are these bump mapped? It's hard to tell with all the pitch blackness.

2 superbun

Initially it was the project of porting some ships for my total conversion of X3TC as I hate the stock ships design. Actually all I wanted from X3TC was the engine. The space battle, as I see it, consists of capital ships, beams and missiles. There is no need to have "fighters" - more expensive and less effective "live missiles".

But you fighterloving guys are lucky :P. My plans change constantly. Now I plan to model my own ships from scratch and maybe even move from X3TC to UDK (http://www.udk.com/). So, I have Mothership, Sajuuk and Vaygr Shipyard almost finished ATM. They will be released soon (don't ask about Vaygr Flagship, it's screwed up). And because most likely they will be used in the usual X3TC battles I will reopen the hangars on the Mothership. Sajuuk don't have the hangars, and Shipyard looks more like a transport ship.

I am not sure ATM if I will port any other Homeworld 2 ships.

Yes, they are bump mapped. The normal textures were created by Homeworld 2 guys who have made the Homeworld 2 graphics upgrade mod.
It's hard to tell with all the pitch blackness.
On the notebook where I took the shots they looked a bit different :)

Oh, and one more thing. In its present 5 km tall form the Mothership won't fit into the gate. That was not a problem for me as my mod would be gateless. So I can make the ship smaller obviously (but then it would be less epic) or the Mothership may travel with jump drive only, post your suggestions.

I think it needs to be able to fit through a gate unfortunately :(

Also I might have some questions on texturing once finals are over, I have 3ds Max and will be taking a stab at a number of Homeworld 1 ships.

unless you force people who want to use this to either use the bigger gates, or gateless jumpdrive mod. you'll need to shrink the mothership, as it would collide with the gate when it exits (after using jumpdrive).

Ah those were good textures.
Oh, and one more thing. In its present 5 km tall form the Mothership won't fit into the gate.
You could flip the ship and enter a gate with vertical strafe, top first. :D
