I can be a bit of a conservative knob when it comes to games...I grew up when 'gamer' was a stigma and a reason for people to look at you funny. Now it is a fad the game companies have to cater to the xbox-kiddies and other morons so the games are not too hard, and that further cemented my enjoyment of difficulty in games. I get the same way with Parkour and its commercialization the same way the eastern folk did when Martial Arts was shared with the west (leaving out a ton of the culture and just teaching people to fight)...I get needlessly worked up over such concepts LoL.

It is a good post, well the OP and the farming one, and it is nice to see you have taken the time to share your knowledge. I am sure on my nexy pass I will nab the #Deca, if only because I like the #Deca series...I think it's the names...

EDIT: I think the #Deca having Kyons IS an error, but it is a really logical choice for a super-carrier...no friendly-fire amidst the swarm.

Respect given where its deserved. People who take the hard route often find more good times along the way. Try living in Japan for as long as i've had... i wouldnt trade my experiences here for anything! Yes it's hard at times still, but what memories i've made.... good times :D:D:D

I've been pondering the very issue as to why the #deca can only use Kah'ak Emitters since capping the #deca.

I've come to the conclusion that because the #deca evolved (according to Aldrin plot speech) from terraforming to defense and supply roles, and that in the beginning the only contact these ships had were supposedly with the Terran colony (who at the time I'm sure did not have a weapons producing facility) and the Kah'ak. Using the only source of offensive ability available (Kyon Emitters), the CPU ships adapted themselves to use these weapons - perhaps needing to remove compatability with other types of weapons due to the unusual design or specific needs of the Emitters? Who knows... this is just my theory.

Unfortunately you can't reverse engineer invincible ships.

I acquired my deca through scripting, unfortunately I haven't yet aquired enough Gkyon emittors for it :( It is also too big to dodge incoming fire so 6GJ isn't enough.
that is a lie.It can be reversed engineered but only in the Hq you get trough the quest .Hq created by cheating can't reverse any ship at all.
Depends on how you create the HQ. When you use Cycrow's cheat package 1.5 you get a fully functional HQ including the possiblity to RE and build ships.

On the other hand it does not make much sense to first capture the #deca in vanilla and then cheat a HQ to RE it. Either stay with vanilla or cheat the HQ AND the #deca.

My personal way is staying with vanilla. Thank you very much, Eddis, for sharing that information!

I have been farming for 2 gaming sessions now and can confirm that the Emitters drop regardless of which ship is shooting/lands killing blow on the Carrier or Destroyer. So long as you are not OOS NPC controlled ships and laser towers killing the targets make no difference.

I've seen typically drops in the 30~40% range, IE: for every 2~3 or so destroyers or carriers they will drop from 1 to 2 forms of Emitters. Of these drops I have seen as many as 4 in a stack, but typically only 1 or 2. It also appears that for every 10'ish Alphas that drop, there will be 3 Betas and 1 Gamma. Nothing but to get to it if you want a full set of each for your beer-can! 8)

At this point i've expanded my wessle count 200%, all mistrals :D They are doing the job of collecting for the Hub, as well as running UT and ST, ferrying mats from single mines etc to my main complex in Omicron Lyrae. It can be a bit cumbersome managing 200+ trading ships but meh, what can you do.

More updates about RE'ing to follow, along with any other insights I find from farming Emitters.

XModels 3D Viewer says 250kJ. Recharge is 3.75 kJ/s.

#deca has 250,000 energy for laser use - taken from the ship's Information window in-game.

recharge is 3,746.

even with full Gamma's equipped you will virtually never run into a situation where you need more.

Since 3D Viewer accesses the same files as the in-game info (for all-vanilla files) they could be expected to agree, which they do.

I've tried time and again with versions 2.1 and 2.5 and each time the marines are pushed out of the ship well before they can take down the hull!!!

When was this possible??? Version 1.0???

Ok so I've realised that my marines were too powerful so I needed to fire well before hacking!!! That's better!

Took me so long to realise!

Yeah, I did specifically state that timing was critical for this process :)

I have been away from X3 due to DDO going f2p as well as running thru Dragon Age twice (rogue, wiz).

I was pleasantly surprised to see 2.5 patch came out while I was away. Downloading it now, hopefully it will not corrupt my savegames

If anyone can confirm, does this work in 2.5? Thanks.

Very very cool find. While it seems obvious once pointed out, I never would have thought to try a timing trick like that.

Any word on the results from reverse engineering this thing yet; whether the invincibility goes away?

Although, now that I think about it, reverse engineering a vessel that is essentially supposed to be alive, since it's artificially intelligent, seems a little evil, haha.
