So I replaced the combat files exactly like you said, made sure they were mp3 format and renamed them, and it's not working.

Does this require a new game to take effect? I thought you said we didn't need to...

Please help.

If you take a look in the soundtrack folder they are all mpeg3 not mp3
From wikipedia, "Not to be confused with MPEG-3."

so you have to make the files into mpeg3 for it to work, no game restart required.

Oooh, thanks. But how do I get them to mpeg?

Edit: I keep looking through sites but everything keeps telling me that an mpeg and an mp3 are the same, are you sure this is the problem?

Can mods like the Immersive mod conflict with changing the sounds?

*edit* after doing a bit of work I found what I was looking for, and let it be noted that file: 00024 is also the music for the new home sector: Guiding Star, not sure if the other 4 new home sectors have different music though, don't have a saved game to revert to before I selected the name >.<''

Irrational factors are clearly at work.

Question - is it safe to delete old music files, that are not used in X3TC?
For example - X3R race theme.

I was thinking about deleting whole soundtrack folder and setting in each sector via Galaxy Editor my favorite tracks from other games.
Game won't crash if I'll do such thing?

Also - is there any complete list of tracks, that are not used in X3TC?
Or I'll have to check every of these myself? :P

Hi Every one.

I have been compiling the Soundtrack of all games from X-BTF to X3-TC
with the help of your postings as well as the X3 Music guied but i still see some holes

It would greatly help if any one can identify the following tracks for me:
8301
8303
8305
8307
8308

I like this very much. As 8302 and 8306 have been identified as sectors
maybe this are too.

Also this:
6015
8133
8209
8210
8216
8225
8227

And i cant find the Heretic's End Music.
I do not see 8314 in the Soundtrack folder.

08301, 8303 and 08305 sound nice, but not really familiar.
08307 - The Moon.
08308 - Oort Cloud.

According to this topic track 6015 is from X2.

I think 8133 isn't used in X3TC at all and might simply be the missing 4th OST Battle track. If I'm not mistaken, this track is used with the other "OST Battle"-tracks in X3AP as additional combat music.
08209, 08210 and 08216 do not sound familiar.
8225 - Mines of Fortune, Merchant Haven, Savage Spur
08227 sounds familiar, but I don't know, where it's used.

Heretic's End has the track number 08206 in X3TC.

Just thought i'd add. 00024 is the theme tune for all of the new home sectors. Aswell as a few other 'mysterious' (empty and depressing) sectors.

What's the music from Sector "Gamma 1"- cannot find it in the soundtracks folder? Beautiful melancholic strings...
EDIT: Got it, it's 08207.mp3

Low Quality Custom Music

Post by Nanopizza »

I have done this many times, however on almost every single time the music seems low quality and somewhat muffled...I have tried many things to get my head round why its like this, I have tried modifying sound levels, analysing what the game soundtracks have in them compared to the ones I'm adding, however they almost always come out sounding muffled...almost like there is a layer of something in-between what the music is meant to sound like and what it actually sounds like. the base music itself is top quality, as a matter of fact its the "Birth of a new Era" soundtrack from the X Rebirth pre-order sound-track.

I'm not sure if this is a problem only I have, or if I only really notice it because I am such a sound quality snob lol. I just can't tolerate low sound quality lol.

Anyway, any help or insight into this matter would be appreciated :)

(if it helps I am using the X-Tended Terran conflict mod, or XTC for short. shouldn't make any difference though. just some more soundtracks added by the mod, still the same method with replacing them.)
