Hi again,
Sorry you had no luck... Yer... tend to agree with you cause when i had the problem on an earlier version of X2/3 about 2 years ago, I had a totally different machine too. I also think that my old machine had a PS2 mouse, where as my new machine is USB.
Your info, combined with mine, various versions of the game and various machines, makes you think it is definetly something to do with the game is coded, not that I know about such things... but I, like you have been playing everything from Eve to Wow and EQ to COH, and never had this before, apart from when playing the X2/3 game a couple of years back...
To much of a coincidence i think...
Oh well ... we plod on:P
Why does my mouse go slower when in game?

The problem with this is that there are people who are not experiencing this problem. Most likely the majority of people who are playing the game, in fact. So, clearly, since the game isn't different for those other people, the difference must lie in the hardware being used to run it.Axeldemar wrote:I am convinced it is a game issue, how else can the same fault occur on different pc's using different mice and different drivers and setups.. nothing else seems to make any sense.
I'm not, however, suggesting that there definitely isn't something in the game which could be tweaked to help with issues such as these. In all probability, the issue is something like the game doing something slightly non-standard with something (may not even actually be the mouse!) which drivers on most systems can handle without problems, but causes your machine to choke.
I've seen this issue crop up several times before, including in X3:R and probably X2. I even raised it myself once! I'm sure that Egosoft haven't stopped looking for it, but the fact that it has lasted this long means that it must be a very tricky one to pin down.

@ Axeldemar, hello again - your change of forum name threw me - should have watched the Avatar!
Thanks for your update. I have RealTek HDA drivers dated Mar 09 which I downloaded from my motherboard update site. Auto-update (depends which) might not be mobo/cpu-specific so it could be worth checking your mobo site - although Nov 08 is not bad and may be the latest for your mobo and cpu.
It might be that with XTC, the more simple the mouse the better it works! One thing that I found that helped reduce hesitation before movement of the mouse pointer (although no impact on speed of moving) was to download a PS2 mouse driver (from a mouse CD or from Microsoft), fit a PS2-USB adapter in the PS2 mouse port, replug the mouse into the adapter and reboot. The only downside with this is that an optical mouse remains on low level light even when the PC is turned off.
Only other thing I can suggest with your more complex mouse software is to make sure the mouse software is running on a different cpu core to the game - but the OS probably sees to that anyway.
Good luck!
