Getting back to the original thread, I,ve found that some ships eject easily, some are more difficult and others are next to impossible. Getting the shields down quickly helps. Also it seems to make an effect how much shield strength is left before you make the final shot. Another thing I have found with freighters that belong to the races is if the ship goes red before capture, pilot ejects and ship still has shields on capture, no shields are listed in the cargo bay - also cargo hold is at mininum capacity. If captured before going red (I'm using X-Shuttle) it appears to work out out similar to a pirate capture (cargo space, shields, etc)
