I want the steam community in-game, I just don't want the stupid message popping up and blocking the interface every time I start the game to let me know about a feature I already know about.

I suppose it's not technically steam's fault but that of the developer, but I've had other similar issues as well. For example recently my steam-bought company of heroes started asking me for a disk and despite trying lots of things to fix the problems nothing worked. However, a couple of days later it was fine. A few days after that I finished a campaign and got dumped in the multiplayer lobby to see my medals where I noticed that the news channel mentioned that there had been a planned server outage at the same time my game stopped working. So not only had they not put anything in place so that the steam users could continue playing like the normal users but they caused me to waste time trying to fix something that wasn't broken by not even telling me of it or giving a meaningful error message.

Steam does largely work, but I have enough problems with it that I'll only consider it for games that are unavailible or a lot more expensive elsewhere.

If you've got a 1GB limit then steam is unlikely to be an option, TC is 7.6GB installed so you're probably looking at a download of at least 3-4GB.

Just Checked a moment ago.

Fry's Electronics still have some in stock but they are a stateside brick/mortar store with a small online presence, you could call/email and ask, I know their in-store customer service is absolutely awesome.

It's where I got mine.

Having a broadband limit was a pain in the but for me, but luckily I found an unlimited broadband download that was actually even cheaper than my previous one.

Ya I was a skeptic about Steam, but I'm a believer now.

There is no extra slow startup time to start X3TC. It startup timeof X3 TC the game is the same as the boxed X3Reunion. Steam has two modes; online and offline; I always have it set on offline, because obviously X3TC 2.0 hasn't been released yet to download.

So in all in all, no complaints here about Steam, I heard somebody though say there is a limited number of times you can reinstall your game on your computer. I've never had to yet, so I havn't run into that situation.

Since alot of good games that I like come from Europe;Germany, Czech, Russia arn't available here in Canada, Steam and other direct download is a faster way to get the game than order it thru the mail.

I just went to Electronic Boutique last week, and there is only a very small shelf for PC games now. The guy there says, publishers and developers are preferring to make console games more because of piracy on the PC. Well hopefully they won't stop making PC games, cause I ain't switching to any console.

Seriously, what is going on? I've been to all the stores in my area and not one of them has it, sold out everywhere online, except for ridiculously overpriced (£50?!).
It's like every copy has vanished :?

I'd been saving up to buy this for the past month and now this happens.....

And no, I don't want a digital version. I'd rather have the physical version with large manual and poster.
