Ya.... The most real thing is game company make games for gamers........
But they don't care the gamers feeling.....beside that is fake version is more easy to start playing. Then the company also lost the money........ For a gamer I just want to buy and keep the game forever which I want to play any time. For personal I like to keep the boxes also coz it really make me feel to buy sth.

Honestly, I'm just hoping Steam will give refunds now. I've really lost interest in the game.

I do not feel like I actually own this game, to be honest. I feel like I've just rented a scratched DVD for a lot of money.

I won't make this mistake again. What a horrible purchasing experience lol... I mean wow, this is amazingly bad.

I just bought the game on Steam as well, waited a few hours to download, and now I can't play. I've owned all the X games and this is the first time I have been let down, gg on using DRM, this is why we can't have nice things :(

I bet neither party is working on getting activation going since it is New Years.

Even if they were doing an upgrade, that is a long time for activation to be down you would think. Many businesses do not last long even with just a little downtime.

I guess this is different though because people are screwed over after they have made a purchase, they aren't being restricted from making a purchase.

For the people in Europe I'm sure they are sleeping off their new year parties, over here on the West Coast, the parties are still going on. I'm sure no one even knows that the activation servers are down :( All I wanted to do tonight was pew pew in a space ship.

This is ridiculous. I would hardly say its an upgrade, if they were operating intelligently they would mirror the upgraded system whilst they were operating on it and then perform a direct changeover. Downtime would be minimal.

When you are talking about a system that is counted on having 24hr up time this is about as bad as it can get.

This is a pretty unacceptable situation really. I really annoys me that a game purchase can't be played on the same day. There's no excuse for this kind of downtime, regardless of who's fault it is.

Sadly I was contemplating just downloading this illegally this morning, but decided to do the right thing instead, especially since it was on special on Steam. I'm starting to think I made the wrong decision...

I'm going to be writing a letter to Egosoft, Tages and Steam about this.

Any further talk that even hints at piracy will see an end to this thread.

First and only warning.

Same problem, impossible to connect to the tages server.
I have also posted an email to their activation support.

Probably we need to wait they resolve their problem ....

I dont see why it needs DRM when its been bought through steam, you need your steam account to play it, so why DRM as well?

This really is a shockingly stringent DRM system and show very little consideration for the paying customer. If I wanted to log into a MMORPG and the server was down I’d say “Fair enough, these things happen.” But I don’t, I want to play an off-line single player game that I just shelled money out for and I’m not allowed to on the grounds that I can’t access a server that has nothing to do with the actual game its self.

When are publishers going to cotton on to the fact that these piracy prevention methods don’t only not work, but also discourage paying customers. I’ll never buy another game that uses tages that’s for sure.

Can't register still. It's 10:30.

I'm gonna raise hell tomorrow once people are back at their offices.

Tages is a piece of crap, maybe the next game Egosoft releases won't have this pile of garbage included. I've bought all the X games, and support egosoft but this is just r*******. You're screwing your customer because you went with a loser company like tages.

I also am unable to play this game I paid for and purchased over 24 hours ago, this seems unacceptable to me.

Also, while the publisher may decided on which DRM is used it's still EGOSOFTS fault in the eyes of Joe Shmoe consumer. As the single face to the customer you're ultimately the one that has to answer's for those decisions. You can't expect customers to go between Ego-Soft, the publisher, Tages, and steam just to get a game a running when a technical problem occurs. Suck it up and take some responsibility.

I have to agree with many on this post, I am going to pursue a refund vs. trying to play this game.

And I thought Reunion was impossible to run when it came out with all those bugs. This time it seems like your going out of your way to shoot yourselves in the foot.

EGOSOFT should reach out to TAGES and really fix their business ties with them. This is totally unacceptable from both the parties. If you are capable of selling a product online, then it should be fully capable for use right away. I shouldn't have to wait a minute, days weeks to use a product i paid for.

At the least if your business partner's web is going to be down, then there should be some sort of a feedback or an ETA.

For reals. I'd like to see some sort of "We've been able to contact Tages and they are working on the issue." or even... "We have been unable to contact Tages after repeated attempts."

I really find it discouraging when I see that someone has purchased the game 48+ hours ago and is still unable to activate.

Rapier, who do we need to complain to then? Can you provide personal emails or a website, a name (Deep Silver)? I don't want to have to contact their public customer support (info@deepsilver.whatever), nothing will happen.
