I can stand the lack of cockpits when I am in something big with the camera point positioned somewhere in the back (looking forward at the bulk of my carrier, etc),...but seeing 0% of your ship on a fighter is immersion breaking sometimes.

TrackIR support would be mind blowing. I love using it when i play Orbiter. The ability to look around the cockpit is pure insanity but X3TC doesn't have cockpits.

TrackIR does have joystick, mouse and keyboard emulation so you could add basic support into the game yourself.

I remember that, because it was extremely unique. I also vividly remember starting the game and looking at the cockpit of my Discoverer and being instantly immersed. And later roleplaying as a trader, looking through the large cockpit of my Mercury. I didn't even touch seta. Capital ships felt like Capital ships, rather than just "Big" ships.
X3 took that away and replaced it with a rather blotchy and obtrusive section of your ship that's visually unpleasant more than not. I'm not really griping about it, but I feel it certainly took something special away from the game.
