no IF there is a abandoned ship in the sector then you target it with the key press
I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.

That’s perfect if it only target ships I personally shot down, but I'm afraid that it also will target other abandoned/unclaimed/hidden ships.

I have tried using this script.....unsuccessfully. It always targets freaking astronauts. I make my living in X3 primarily as a salvager, so having this function saves a lot of other key presses.

Initially, I found that if I just excluded the M5 class from $class, that it skipped over astronauts a lot more, but still it would happen, and I lost a whole class of ships in the process....not ideal. I tried so many methods to get this script to forget the freaking space suits, and eventually I realized the problem. Unfortunately, it means completely dumping the approach this script takes, and starting from scratch.

I'm not a scripter myself, but I had an idea on a better approach. I cracked open the MSCI handbook and wrote a script on it, and it works. Targets only the nearest unclaimed ships and never astronauts.

I'm still testing it. I don't want to have the same issues, and because I'm not a veteran scripter, I want to thoroughly make sure there aren't any bugs. I'll launch new topic with the script shortly, but if anyone was watching this topic I'll let them know.

nOOB to scripts and modding here,

I am still watching this as I am still partially annoyed at targeting pesky astronauts.

I usually go and kill the poor astronaut so he won't interfere with my abandoned ship targeting, lol.

I've killed soooo many astronauts now...

Help the poor astronauts!

I use this a lot-but I had to modify a couple of other scripts to get the max benefit---I modified Bail Signal Extension to spawn "fighter drones" (friendly race) rather than spacesuits when a ship bails-now this script will only target neutral ships in space AND "BOF drones plus" gives me a good supply of fighter drones now as well..:-)..Modifying Bail Signal Extension to drop fighter drones instead of spacesuits made a world of difference in my game, as the drones zip off to the nearest station quickly and don't lag down the machine like so many floating spacesuits can do sometimes..Doing this also lets me know when I get a real captured ship-as only the ones that are legit bail now with a spacesuit..Cheers
